Banister is a damn fool when it comes to bp management. Absolutely no reason to pull Hamels at a pc in the low 90s. Then to bring in a rookie who struggles with command to face Trout, Pujols and Simmons. Just asking for it.

You gotta just figure Hamels might be nursing something, and we didnt want to extend his pitch count, right?

Sandler says they feel pretty confident about getting one of the wild card slots and does not want him( Hamels) to be worn out like he was last year come playoff time.

Also, as much as I appreciate the job Gomez has done while he's been here, I think im ready for Deshields to be our everyday center fielder next year. He scored two more runs tonight without getting a hit and his range ,along with that speed, are unmatched.


He's also cheap and that money can go to pitching.

You have to know that Rua was pulled early from the game the night before and then hoped on a flight to LAAA. Without knowing his arrival, etc... you just don't know.

Yikes.

There is lots of liability in that. Neither Mazara nor Choo are very good defensively and both are pretty slow.

DD doesn't have the arm to keep runners from advancing and challenging him. I like what he has brought to the game. I believe they said during the game last night that he and Choo are bonding. Choo apparently indicated when DD is on base, he gets a better pitch selection with more FBs because pitchers are concerned about DD's speed.

And at this point, while Calhoun is cheap... the fact he is him playing an OF role make the D even worse than it is with your lineup.

With someone like Perez (lots of grounders), DD's arm isn't as big a deal. With AJG, it is a huge issue.

Interesting.

During the game, they talked about Hamels squeezing in an extra GS with the off days. Banny has indicated he likes to honor them, but that could change.

You'd like to think if you can get efficient innings, he will be even that much fresher his next GS.

In recent years, the Rangers would start someone else and bring in the SP during the game and go about 2 IP, to get them additional rest.

I'm wondering if we FINALLY get above .500 today... But Tyson Ross and his 7.02 ERA may have something to say about that. It should be ABD starting tonight. Ross keeps getting chances because he had one good start.

With that said, the Rangers are gonna need more arms than Claudio to make a run the next two weeks. Maybe last night was Bannister giving a guy a chance against a team the Rangers will face 9 more times in the coming weeks.

But like I said, Bannister is awful at managing the bullpen, so who knows what his logic was last night.

I also have to wonder if the Rangers are looking at the possibility of him being brought back next year. His Walks have been killer. You have to think as he continues to recover from TOS his control will continue to improve.

I think that was more because the tying run was at the plate.

DD cannot be the CF. I know there have been some decent CFers like Mickey Rivers and Lance Johnson who couldn't throw, but they could play shallow and really go get the ball. DD will play deeper, and grandmas will go 1st to 3rd on him at will.

I'll say 4.2 IP and 5 ER with a very high pitch count, which makes us go to ABD. ABD gets in about an inning or two with limited stress, and then Banister lifts him to put in leclerc or barnette for no apparent reason.
