It is so frustrating watching Ross pitch. The pitch count pace by both of these starters is awful

An hour and a half into a 1-0 game and we're in the 3rd effing inning.

Don't look now, but Ross' ERA will be under 5.00 if he throws 15 more consecutive scoreless innings.

I'll say 4.2 IP and 5 ER with a very high pitch count, which makes us go to ABD. ABD gets in about an inning or two with limited stress, and then Banister lifts him to put in leclerc or barnette for no apparent reason.

I'd say I jinxed Ross, but that would imply last night was not a standard performance for him.

On a side note, for some reason I was curious about Hamels' career numbers. I knew his ERA has been slightly above his career average since coming over, but was really blown away by his W/L record. The guy is 31-7 in a Rangers uniform.

It's interesting to sometimes compare perception with facts for players from the past. Take Rick Helling, for example. In my mind, he had a couple of good but not great years in Texas. Probably an ERA in the 3.90-4.20 range. What was it in reality? 4.41 in his best season. I probably just remember him being better because he won 20 games and we were so used to most everyone having a 5+ ERA. That, and runs were generally elevated in the steroid era.

It's kind of a fun little game to play. Without looking it up, what do you think...Kevin Mench's stats were in his best season with the Rangers?

Well since Tyson Ross is a veteran player and was good at one point, even though it wasn't on the Rangers, Banister will keep running him out there. By far the most infuriating thing about Banister as a manager.

Hmmm, I'd say 28 HR and .260 BA. Maybe 85 RBI. Now I have to go look it up to see how messed up my memory is.
