No idea. I'm starting to get concerned about him getting overworked. He's essentially the only bullpen member that I trust to come in and get the job done in high leverage spots. And he's gotten the job done over multiple innings as well. I hope someone can step up and lighten his workload.

Saw that he pitched last night and did well. But the writeup I read made it sound like it would be 1-2 weeks at least before making it back to MLB. Quoted him as being pretty tired after his outing (13 pitches); he also stated that he needs to work on back to back days, maybe even three consecutive days before deeming himself ready for MLB.

But at least his is one the mound and pitching in a game. And did well. It was two k's and a ground out I believe. Maybe he'll be in Round Rock this weekend, we are going Saturday night with my kid and some friends from his team.

I would expect him back for the series against the Angels on Labor Day weekend

Agreed. But it feels like we encounter situations in nearly every game where it becomes a question of if he should come in or not.

13 pitches per inning, but also think about what else goes into an outing, including warming up and mental fatigue. 13 pitches per inning certainly helps, but it's not the only factor

True, but it still makes him a better option that the ones that take 13 pitches per batter....

Less about being over-worked and more about being over-exposed.

yeah, his delivery helps him be awkwardly deceptive. The more frequently it's seen (and for extended time), the less awkwardly deceptive it will be. But fatigue has to be a concern too. Just a handful of appearances off the MLB lead, with a significant number of multi-inning appearances

Hard to blame Banny with going to Claudio so much. However, I wonder why he pulled ABD last night after only 5 batters. ABD seemed to have it going.....but he brings Bush out for the 7th I believe. Bush is certainly a 1 inning guy, so what was Banny's plan for the 8th and 9th? Obviously it was Claudio. Why not let ABD try to get through the 7th, then Bush for the 8th, and then Claudio the 9th?

Oh, and I hope Ross gets DFAed, and ABD takes his spot....PDQ.

James Shields has an unsightly ERA, so I hope we can score some runs. I also hope Cashner can go longer into the game than Ross did last night.

Ross needs to be gone. ABD can handle a spot in the rotation, if nothing more than being a better option than Ross.

Another thing: I don't miss Lucroy one bit. Chirinos and Nicholas are filling in pretty well so far.

Yeah, I understand the Ross situation in that he basically signed here likely with the promise to be able to get X number of starts to audition for free agency and that if we toss him aside too quickly it might impact those type reclamation signings in the future (which Texas has benefited from -- ref: Cashner, and to a lesser extent Griffin).

But yeah, being back in the thick of things again you can't keep marching out a guy that is likely going to give you 4 innings of 3-4 run ball.

Not that it's that much money in the grand scheme of things, but interestingly enough his contract has us paying him $100k extra for each of his last two starts (and the next 2). Then it will go up to $150k/start.

He's hard enough to watch as it is -- knowing that he's pulling down $100-$150k each start in addition to the $6m for the season is even more painful.

For what little it's worth, the Angels, Royals, Mariners, and Twins are favored to lose tonight, while the Rangers are big favorites.

Rangers are the only team, other than the Yankees, in the wild card mix that have a positive run differential. I like our chances....as due Houston fans.
