Yep. IMO, the biggest need this team has right now is someone who can get them to our arms in the back of the pen. If Schep can miraculously provide that, that would be huge for this team.

And to think, coming into this season the bullpen was supposed to be a strength.

Exactly. We have to find a bullpen piece for that last roster spot. Sometimes that's going to require putting untested pitchers in leverage situations.

We've got to keep the critical pieces of the bullpen fresh. Look at our schedule. We don't have a day off until July 6, and 10 straight of those are on the road at NYY, CLE, and CWS. if we had a day off or two coming, we could throw Kela 2 innings, or Bush for a couple extra outs.

1 run lead start of the 6th was the lowest leverage situation we were going to see for Scheppers tonight.

Hold on to the lead and we're in a 3 way tie for the 2nd WC spot.

We have 3 really good options and then a HUGE drop off after that. If we can get 1 or 2 players (Schep, Jeffress, Barnette, Diekman if he comes back) to step up, it can still be a strength.

Is really is crazy just how much better Chirinos has been this season than Lucroy. Hell, Chirinos even seems better defensively and in terms of calling games.
