You have spoken a guaranteed win into existence. Pitchforks are out for you tonight if we don't win.AccidentProne said:
Ugh. Did you even read my writeup????? Phillie pitching is ass, my dood. I'll 8-3 good guys tonight
It will be interesting to see how he is used in MLB. Surely it would be too taxing for him to be a starter and then DH on a few of his days in between starts. Maybe RP and then DH occasionally?jtstanley4621 said:
When I first heard about Otani, I thought he was a gimmick mostly. The 2016 campaign he has is nothing short of incredible.
I expected a mostly pull-oriented left handed hitter who hit mainly for power. Then I looked up his highlights on youtube, and he actually shows that he can go the other way. I mean, yes he for sure still pulls the ball. He's also got a little of the Ichiro "step like you're starting to run out of the batter's box" swing, but it is definitely compact and seems like it would be better with a few tweaks.
I also expected a large number of Ks from him at the plate. He had 323 ABs and 98 Ks. That's really not that terrible. He had 54 BBs and 22 HRs. And a .322 batting average and a 1.004 OPS.
Add to that 140 innings pitched and a 1.86 ERA with 174 Ks and 45 BBs.... Wow.
I mean... obviously if those numbers translated to the MLB he would be basically unlike anything we've ever seen before. But he's got legitimate talent playing both ways. He's not just a gimmick HR hitter, and he's not just a flamethrowing pitcher either.
Haha, those "crappy" upper deck seats are pretty much where me and my wife's season tickets are...wbt5845 said:
