Congrats to Gallo. I've talked more crap about him than any ranger not named Cj Wilson. Hope he gets it right between the ears

I was at game today. My thoughts:

1. DeShields looked really good. Much more plate discipline.
2. Field looked like caca. Not sure what was wrong with the outfield.
3. Allen Webster looked good, but KC was swinging at anything close. They looked like they were in a hurry to get out of town.
4. I had the Fritos Kimchi Chili Dog and it SUCKED. Little bit of kimchi mixed into the chili. Very disappointing.

We had a golf event at the ballpark in November, and unfortunately it's taken longer than expected to fix the outfield

A golf event on a major league field? That sounds like an awful idea.

It was just from whatever they had down in the field. People were teeing off from the upper level

The Rangers turf guy has always sucked. Not sure if it's been the same guy for a while or not but we always have one of the worst fields in the major leagues. Most minor league fields are in better shape

We always have a major problem in right field, and there are never designs in the grass. Hard to screw up overseed this time of year.

You clearly have no clue what you're talking about. In regards to the circles, the paint used suffocated the rye seedlings that were down and were forced to sod those areas. Not ideal time to lay overseeded sod. In regards to right field, it gets almost no sunlight. Grass needs sun to survive. They've had to sod that area numerous times in season because of this issue. Prior to '15 a new Bermuda variety was installed, latitude 36 that is much more cold and shade tolerant. No issues with it the last 2 years. Lastly, Bermuda does not stripe well at all. The field is overseeded at a very low rate then transitioned rather quickly in may. All of those crazy patterns you see are on cool season, bunch type grasses such as rye and bluegrass. Blue Bell is a good example. Nick can do all the fun patterns bc it's on rye. Anything else I can correct you on?

Thanks J. For a moment yesterday, I thought "those shapes look like the outlines for greens" but dismissed it as silly. My wife thought the shape in right field looked like a heart.

Doesn't change the fact that it's one of the worst looking fields in all of baseball and has been for a long time. And the ballpark isn't much different than any of the other ones when it comes to sunlight and they all seem to get their fields looking top notch. It's pathetic that the field looks the way it does whenever the guy had 6 months to get it ready to go. Sorry if that's your buddy, but the field is **** compared to the others.

Six months? Try a couple of weeks homie. They have other events out there besides rangers games. Unlike other stadiums, they don't put a new playing surface in a month and a half before the season begins like other ballparks. You have no clue what the shade issues at the temple are compared to other stadiums. What looks like **** every year? Let's see some specifics. The fact that it isn't striped in patterns for you? That doesn't mean jack. You don't think it is perfect in April when the Bermuda thrives in June, july, August? Clearly you know little about agronomics. I've met the guy a couple of times. My only dog in this fight is some home owner with a yard thinks they know how to manage 2.5 acres of top notch athletic field.

Someone just bunted for a hit against the shift

Words can't describe how happy that makes me. A professional hitter has to be able to beat that shift

I never claimed to be an acronomist, and never claimed I knew how to take care of a major league field, but I also didn't go to school for it and don't get paid over $100,000/year to maintain a single baseball field.

"What did you do today, honey?"

"Argued with a guy on the internet. About grass. Turf grass on baseball fields, specifically. He didn't know s***. I dropped some names. Rye grass. Blue grass. "Cool season turf". Really put him in his place."

"Cool."

I'm no expert in grass but this caught my attention.

The Ballpark is atypical in having such towering outfield bleachers (plus the closed in center field).

Carry on.

She definitely rolled her eyes at me! Seeing how this is what I do for a living though, she isn't shocked. Stuck inside while it rained all day means too much Texags time! Ready for some baseball tomorrow!

I took the intro turf grass management class as an elective while I was at A&M (so I'm pretty much an expert). It was actually really enlightening. I had no idea that there was so much involved in maintaining a field or golf course.

AT&T Park never uses patterns in the outfield. Clearly the second worst surface in the bigs. Only to the Rangers.

Quite frankly I don't know why anyone is bothering to defend the Rangers grass guy. The ballpark as a whole isn't very good anymore compared to the rest of the league. That is precisely why the Rangers are upgrading as soon as they possibly can.

Yadier signing for 3 years and approx $18mm per. Puts a mark out there relevant to the Lucroy negotiations.

They are now reporting 3 years for $60M ($20 per). Lucroy is going to be expensive.

There's nothing wrong with the ballpark. It's still a great venue to watch a game.

I went to Miller park last year and I can't say that I'm excited for indoor baseball.

I love the ballpark. My favorite place to be for a sporting event other than Kyle field. Ready for tomorrow and the next 7 months
