Rangers Minor League Pitchers for your Saturday morning coffee.
A recent
article by TR Sullivan talks about the 4 SPs in AA.
It was a bummer when they moved Sadzeck (25, 6'7"/240) to the BP, and Jurado (21, 6'1"/180) is not impressing. I think at 108 IP he could be tiring. It wouldn't surprise me to see them pace his IPs the rest of the way, capping him at about 140-160. Wiles (23, 6'4"/222) is still pretty consistent. Like most, YoMen is the one I'm awaiting.
Rookie:Hans Crouse (18-RHP): 4 G, 7.0 IP, 5H, 0 ER, 9SO, 3BB, 2 HBP (2.66 of 2017 Draft, 6'4"/190)
Ryan Dease (18-RHP): 4 G, 7.0 IP, 12 H, 4 ER, 10SO, 1BB, 1BHP (4.134 of 2017 Draft, 6'3"/175)
Joel Urena (17-LHP): 5 G, 9.0 IP, 9H, 2ER, 6SO, 3BB, (7.224 of 2017 Draft, 6'5"/235, turn 18 in Aug)
Spokane:Cole Ragans (19-LHP): 6GS, 29.0 IP, 15H, 2.17 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 42SO, 21BB (1.30 of 2016 Draft, 6'4"/190)
Hickory (A)Kyle Cody (22-RHP): 16GS, 83.2 IP, 69H, 3.01 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 83 SO, 30 BB
(6th Rd in 2016 from UofKentucky, 6'7"/245)
Down East (A+)Richelson Pena (23-RHP): 18G, 15GS, 93.2 IP, 75 H, 2.79ERA, 1.01WHIP, 82SO, 20BB
6'1"/170
Frisco (AA)YoMen (22-LHP): 19GS, 119.0 IP, 94H, 3.55ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 105 SO, 40 BB
6'5"/200lbs
Round Rock (AAA)Nick Martinez, ABD... that's about it.
I think when you look at it... expecting a SP from your minors every 3-4 years, that gets you consistent MLB IP is realistic.
