This is just how they climb back into the game here by the way. It's sad and absurd, but I do not trust the bullpen with a 6 run lead heading to the 7th when we pitch again

There better be a good *********reason Gallo was pulled in the 5th frickin inning for that worthless **** stain. If not, add that to the quickly accumulating pile of dumbass managerial decisions made by Banny.

Gallo with hamstring tightness. I would assume he'll sit through the ASB. Maybe a good opportunity to give Guzman a taste for a brief stint?

Announced Gallo left with a sore hamstring. So banister isn't AS much of a hopeless dumbass as we though.

Just watched Guzman tonight again...he looks very impressive

Another guy who has great stuff is pitcher Sam Wolff...he was hitting 96-97 tonight

Probably a pipe dream with Kozma having nudes on Banny.

Wonder what kind of trade value Cashner would bring after tonight's outing?

Agree would love to move him after tonight.

The line on Cashner: 7.0 IP, 0 ER, 3H, 3BB, 4 SO

Season 14 GS, 3.54 ERA, 81.1 IP.

Rangers have 85 GP, so he is 3.2 IP from qualifying.

The ERA would rank 10th, just 1 spot ahead of Darvish's 3.56.

We sold on Cashner, yet?

No doubt. Love him....but since he's a UFA sell his ass and then try to sign him in offense.
gigem1223

Sold on selling him yes. Barring a miraculous turn around by the bullpen, this team isn't good enough to make noise in October.

Games like this are like hitting that 6 Iron on the green of a Par3... couple foot putt waiting by the pin.

That game was just what we needed from Cashner:

Monthly ERA:
April: 2.93
May: 2.92
June: 6.14
July: 0.00

If he is below 3.00 for July as the deadline comes, and the Rangers are Sellers... I'd have to believe we could get two Top 10 Prospects from an org.

Fantasize... 2 Top 10 prospects for Cashner and 2 for Darvish?!
jtstanley4621

There is absolutely, positively, no way in HELL that we would get TWO top 10 prospects for Cashner. Keep dreaming...

How's that? His suckiness led to an RBI, but he's not pitching.

That inning should have been over and Cashner was still rolling. Not saying he keeps the no-no going but I'd still prefer Bogaerts hitting with no one on to start the 7th, wouldn't you?

There's still 3 months of baseball to be played. We're 3.5 games out. Anything could happen but I don't see any reason why we shouldn't sell.

At the very least Napoli, Lucroy, and Cashner.

The point is Kozma not completing a routine play led to Cashner facing another batter instead of being out of the inning

Agreed. Hamels/Darvish and the bullpen could absolutely in us a wildcard game. But we are not going any further than that with the bullpen issues. And it's just not worth trying to fix, as I don't think we could get any top flight bullpen pieces for any of those guys, and it would be highly highly stupid to trade more prospects for bullpen pieces.

We aren't getting anything for Napoli. Possibly a bullpen arm and a prospect for Lucroy. Cashner is interesting if he can followup with another good outing during his next start, which is probably not going to be for another 10 days due to the all-star break. Cashner doesn't have a high dollar contract attached to him, so maybe we will get a few bites from teams truely in contention that need a mid-to-back of the rotation type guy. But we still aren't getting top prospects for Cashner.

I certainly wouldn't bet on this team making a deep run in the playoffs, but bullpen issues are fixed almost the same way they develop -- more outings.

Pitchers aren't put in the bullpen because their arm just can't handle more than an inning or two -- almost all of these guys were starters for the majority of their baseball lives. Most bullpen pitchers are bullpen pitchers because they don't have the pitch repertoire or consistency to thrive over the long-term. So you put them in the bullpen and let them pitch in small samples where multiple pitch types and/or long-term consistency really isn't needed.

It's why bullpens are a crapshoot not only from year-to-year, but even month-to-month. It's why Tolleson had it, then lost it. It's why Dyson had it, lost it, then apparently has found it again.

Again, I don't think this team is likely to make a deep playoff run -- but it wouldn't shock me if guys like Jefress, Bush, Barnette and Diekman suddenly became a shutdown group the last few months of the season.

And assume for a moment, they do. And assume the idea is things are in motion to get them all back on track. And assume Keona isn't hurt and can come back (moved to DL10).

It was mentioned Diekman will likely have a BP throwing session in 7/20. He is expected to clear to pitch on 7/19. There is reason to have optimism there.

It seemed on the broadcast, that alluded to Bush getting some rest and a break, before he gets moved back to the Closer role. There is reason to believe he might have been pushed too hard and over exposed mentally. Let him get his legs back.

Jeffress is a known issues with epilepsy.

The Bullpen could go from a strength to weakness back to strength.

If the BP becomes a strength by late July, does that change your view of being a seller\buyer?

What moves the needle for some on here to become buyers?

Farm isn't healthy enough that I think I can be convinced the Rangers need to be buyers for the sake of consolidating a spot in a single wild card game.

That doesn't mean that I think they should be sellers.

Do you guys see Profar filling in for Andrus as:

  • Auditioning for a trade
  • Experiment in replacement for Andrus
  • Just filling time

What are you looking for or want?

He is team controlled for 2018 and 2019.
Andrus is controlled through 2022, but he can opt out after 2018 and 2019. His .301, 11 HR and 20 SB could make those $15M salaries a bargain.

Behind Andrus?

AA Frisco
Michael De Leon (20-Ranked 19th: 2018 anticipated readiness per MLB): - 69G, .240, 1HR, 2 SB
Juremi Profar (21-Ranked 26th: 2018):- 70G, .267, 8HR, 0SB

A+ Down East
Josh Morgan (21- Ranked 13th: 2018): - 53G, .272, 5 HR, 2 SB

A Hickory
Anderson Tejeda (19-Ranked 7th: 2020): A Hickory - 72G, .224, 4 HR, 7 SB
Yeyson Yrizarri (20-Ranked 17th: 2020): A Hickory - 74G, .264, 5HR, 5 SB <- Has served a PED suspension

You could plug in Jurickson for 2 years as these become ready.

Nothing could make me trade a future top-3 all time shortstop Hall of Famer signed for $15 million a year.
