Not this time. Used a tried and true formula.

Fitting that it ends with the bases loaded. Terrible loss and terrible at bat by Gomez.

3 pitches. Great ****ing Job Gomez.

Seriously though if JD makes any more dumbass trades giving away prospects...

Now please blow it up and replenish the farm. This team is going nowhere and the young talent isn't near good enough to get us there in the future.

If Pinto isn't hitting well, that entire A+ team isn't hitting well.

FWIW, at 22, he's younger than average for that roster.

His defense must be terrible and/or he's just not been showing progress from season to season.

You would think by now the bullpen would understand how walks can be killer. Apparently not. This isn't little league where the games end after 7 innings. We need to sell and reload the farm. Andrus, Odor, Mazara, Gallo are all good pieces to build on, and try to compete again next year

It isn't just about "hitting well."

I don't know that park. It is new to the Rangers organization.

Things to consider...
  • Age
  • Was he drafted out of HS or College or Intl
  • How long has he been in the organization
  • Which direction is he headed
  • How much control does the team have
  • What position does he play
  • Injuries

Reference:

Eduard Pinto (22): DOB: 10/23/94
Int'l signing
Been with the Rangers' organization for 7 years.
Played at AA last year.
Rule V Eligible
Plays OF. No power. Limited speed.

Today's lineup:
Lipka (25-CF): 12/27/93 - 2010 CompA Draft by Atl. Has played AAA, AA and now A+ for Rangers.
Rollin (21-LF): 08/26/95 - DR - Signed 2014
Y. Perez (21-1B): 08/10/95 - Cuba
La O: (25-2B) 12/9/91 - Cuba - Signed in Jan 2017
Hoosier (23-DH): 12/24/93 - 2013 Rd8
Altmann (22-3B): 07/06/94 - 2015 Rd22
Moorman (23-C): 01/09/94 - 2012 Rd17
LeDarious Clark (23-OF): 12/27/93 - 2015 Rd12
B. Perez (21-SS): 01/27/96 - Columbia (Signed 2013)

I'm not going to make any arguments for where Pinto compares to each player. He plays OF... a position of surplus. He has limited team control after being in the organization a long time. They know his ceiling. I don't know other than LeDarious Clark, that any of those players are even in the field of view for the Rangers long-term.

Luckily for the Rangers, every team must be represented at the all-star game.

Most of our prospects are in Frisco.

Round Rock is going to be affiliated with the Astros soon, so I'm guessing the Rangers are fine with them not winning or doing well.

Having said that... last I checked they had like two guys 35 or older in their rotation.

Y'all remember Corey Knebel? Got him from Detroit for Sofia and then traded him and a couple others for Gallardo? Well he's an all star closer for the Brewers at 25.

No way!!!! you still want them to win...the players don't turn to Astro players...their still ours just will be in a different location. We used to have prospects in ROund Rock and Frisco....

I've been visiting Express games for the last 6 years and this is the worst I remember

I think he's hit well and from a Toronto standpoint that's more than you could expect from this.

I thought you didn't argue with me anymore.

A study of AAA records the year before and current year and their correlation to the MLB record would be interesting.

They guy has a minor league career batting average of .309. That includes a significant sample size at AA. We just traded him for a 40 year old with a 6.97 ERA that was DFA. I know that Pinto was a fringe prospect. But he still had some value, however small. Daniels has shown a tendency to waste roster spots on relievers and now Odubel Herrera is starting for the Phillies because of this. I hope that Pinto doesn't turn out the same.

I was hoping to be able to vote in Odor. Not because he really deserves it, but to piss off Astros and Blue Jays fans.

I'm not a hothead that calls for firings at the drop of a hat, but, are the Rangers' owners possibly ever so slightly turning their heads with one raised eyebrow toward Daniels?

I'm sure on a scale of 1 - 100, the likelihood is a 1. Is there any chance that's close to being a 4 or 5?

Ugh... had this post all typed out, and lost it.

Summary... Herrera was a Rule V guy drafted by Philly. He was being converted to OF (11 G in 2014 in OF). Let me know whom you would have left off the 40, during the winter that year, to protect Herrera... a guy who had never made it past AA and buried behing younger guys like Profar and Odor. Alberta was ahead of him and Elvis had SS locked up. Which is why they were converting him.

Herrera had tremendous speed (34 SB in one season) and solid Defense.

Herrera has been a nice find, but he was far from a sure thing when the Phillies took him. The Rangers could have kept him, and passed on taking Deshields from Houston. Herrera has been a better player than DD, but its not like that trade-off has been a disaster that Rangers fans or front office should be that bothered by what could have been.
