Cespedes would check two of those boxes.

He sure would. And we don't need to spend too much at C. We need someone who can play defense and split time with Gattis. We can afford to have a hole at catcher & CF hitter if 7 other guys can hit.

I think we need to go the trade route for a high end starter. I wouldn't be afraid to move some of our top guys if it meant getting a true ace to go along with Lance, Dallas, Joe, & Collin.

So gattis is a hole at catcher?

No I was talking about when he's not catching.

You solve OF and the bat with Cespedes (if he opts out).

Potential 25-man roster if you sign him and teach Gurriel 1B (you'd have to be happy with this lineup to start the year). Still need to Figure out CF - I love Marisnick's DEFENSE, his bat is just dreadful.

There isn't a front line starter available in FA. There isn't a $100M guy out there since Strasburg re-signed with the Nats. Pick up another lefty for the bullpen, for sure - but you have to count on them being a great unit again. Need another SP that will go deep in games so they don't wear out.

You're probably looking at this for next year, barring a blockbuster trade. This is really where Luhnow needs to prove his worth and find a way to get a solid #2 (to be our #3) via trade. There just isn't anyone I see that will give up a #1.
