Jake showed signs many times over his career that he can be a league average hitter. Something happened at the midway point of last year to screw him up. I havent analyzed his swing or pitch selection though.

Jake is not a good hitter and never will be unless there is some major renaissance in his swing. His April last year is the extreme outlier, not anywhere close to the norm. Here's Jake's career numbers.



In 744 plate appearances which is equivalent to a season and a quarter, he's got a wRC+ of 64.

Now, does Jake Marisnick have a place on this team? Sure. Plus defense, plus arm, and plus spped/baserunning. But please stop acting like he's not "getting it going" because he's not been given a chance.
