Been thinking what it would take to get Archer out of TB. What would you guys think of 2 of Gallo/ Profar/ Brinson for Archer and Smith? Possibly throw some cash around as well to sweeten the pot for either side.

Two things happened and then he slumped and started to struggle defensively.

He started batting 4th.
He turned down 5(or 6) years and $35M.

He has 14 Errors, and 7 of those are in July.

He has hit 4th in 6 Games: 5/23, 2 HR, 0BB, .217 BA, .217 OBP.
He has played 80 Games: 90/327, 15 HR, 8 BB, .275 BA

Baseball is a humbling sport.

He'll make $530K +/- in 2017.
He'll get Arb1 ('18), Arb2 ('19) & Arb3 ('20) after that.

The contract was supposedly similar to Gregory Polanco, which also included two team options ($12.5M & $13.5M for Polanco).

I can't say I blame him, but he was trading at the height of his season and that was before his 7 Es. If I'm GM, iIt would also be an opportunity to go to Profar with a similar deal. If he signs... you ship Odor and keep Profar.

Suddenly Odor goes from $35M in guaranteed money, with another $26M in option money, playing for a great team well positioned for a playoff run, and a strong lineup of guys batting around you... to playing in a place like Atlanta or San Diego... for a rebuild that could take 3-4 years before they start winning.

Odor has been a poor defensive player his entire professional career. I don't think you can excuse it for anything. It seems to just be who he is.

If he wants a hefty contract, he'd be wise to work on his fundamentals, both in the field, and at the plate, otherwise his opportunities for a big pay day in the future will be limited, including with San Diego and Atlanta because they don't have a DH spot to put a guy who is a defensive liability and is a low OBP hitter.

Bases loaded, one out.... two consecutive strikeouts. We just need one big inning but we just cannot get it.

Lincecum is gonna kill us with that breaking ball all night.

I don't see why every pitcher doesn't throw every lefty in our lineup off speed in the dirt. They can't lay of 'em and cant hit 'em.
