Because Chirinos was having to go into the game anyways, so because for whatever reason we are playing with a 3-catcher bench, you can't afford to burn 2 bench players at once.

It's a consequence of playing for as long as we have with 3 catchers on the bench. Was eventually going to bite us in the ass, and today it did.

Do you think we'll go after Pomeranz in SD or that Odorizzi guy in Tampa? I don't think we'd have to give up much for either one. I could see us giving up Brinson and some other prospects/cash. Profar/Gallo should be safe

It's amazing how much natural ability some of these guys have. Matt Bush throws just 70 innings in the minors, then goes to prison for 3 years and doesn't pitch at all, then is almost immediately pitching in the big leagues after being released from prison.

Pomeranz probably wouldn't take premier prospects but he might take more than one would think. I don't think San Diego will be overly keen on trading him away after having just traded for him this past off-season.

Valuation of him for that previous trade must have been a mess, He had been in a 2-year back and forth between Oakland's rotation and bullpen. But now his value has never been higher.

I've read there's been a market for Odorizzi, and that Tampa will want a pretty good package in return.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Rangers picked up someone during the ASB. No clue who they get.

I'm skeptical about Pomeranz and while I think there is interest, JD doesn't seem like one to take a risk on a player like Pomeranz. His success as a SP is limited. I think I saw Newburg threw out the cost being Brinson + Cordell?! Two potential Rule V guys for a SP?! I wouldn't have a problem with that, even though Brinson is rumored to be the future and a prospect that is almost a given to be a MLB player. I don't think he will be ready until late 2017 or 2018.

I think Odorizzi interest is real. I think he is more likely. General assumption is to include one of Gallo\Brinson\Profar. I suspect the package will vary to compliment which player. An article in St Louis compared Odorizzi to Wacha in terms of ability and cost. Wacha+ to get Odorizzi.

It will be interesting to see how things shake out this month. I've not seen any mention of Daniels pursuing Desmond. At 30/31, I'm not sure if he wants a 3-4 year deal, so he can get another one, or if he wants a 6-7 year deal.

Extend Desmond and Brinson can go, along with Gallo.

Lots more of interest... Matt Moore (TB). He is worth interest as well.

It wouldn't surprise me if we get 2 SPs.

Odorizzi and Moore for a package?!

Something tells me you won't make it very far into a start if you throw more balls than strikes.... I know that sounds a little bit advanced, but I think the stats would back me up there.

I don't know if that indicates a coaching problem or not, but Doug Brocail, I'm looking at you. Remember why you had to change teams every year or two---you walked a ton of guys.

The Rangers aren't going to let those guys get picked in the Rule V draft if they're still in the organization and there will be room. Those are some of their best prospects.
