Ok the results that showed Houston had one good month of baseball (albeit a very damn good one) and then followed it up with 4 months of .500 baseball which has now carried over to this season. Meanwhile the Rangers had two bad months of baseball and have been on fire ever since which has carried over to the hottest start in franchise history. But yeah sure things "ended" the same but the trajectories right now are vastly different.

The main reason that the Astros lost the division last year is because the Rangers kicked their ass in the head to head games. The Astros had a chance to take the division with all those games against the Rangers at the end of the season. The Astros got embarrassed in their own house by the Rangers and so went the title.

So please tell us all again how head to head games don't matter. It cost you the freaking A.L. West title.

I hadn't realized it had gotten that bad.

I started to update my post on the arms (in the Trout Trade thread) in the Angels farm system and figured it was a waste of time. Maybe I revisit it.

They had swapped a AAA and AA pitcher.

Their AAA was bad and headed in the wrong direction between the 2-3 weeks since I captured it. Last I checked, the age of their rotation in AAA is Kendrick-31, Lincecum-31, Jones- 27, Smith-24, McGowin-24.
Their AA wasn't much better.

Their hope lies in Chacin whom they got from Atlanta... and Lincecum who signed a 1 year deal.

Currently on the Big Team, they have:
Santiago (28-LHP): 12 GS \ 5.07 ERA \ 1.31 WHIP - Arb3 in 2017
Weaver (33-RHP): 11 GS \ 5.18 ERA \ 1.48 WHIP - FA after 2016
Shoemaker (29-RHP): 11 GS \ 5.40 ERA \ 1.38 WHIP - Arb1 in 2017
Chacin (28-RHP): 5 GS \ 3.73 ERA \ 1.15 WHIP <- Traded to Halos from Braves on May 11 - FA after 2016
Lincecum (31-RHP): Signed May 20 to a 1 year deal. He has had 2 GS for Salt Lake (AAA). Supposed to be ready by end of the month.

The Angels are in trouble. They have too much committed to too few players in 2017 (5 players for $89.4M), which means they really don't have the ability to sign all the quality FA players they need, assuming they are available. They don't have the players in the farm system to fill the holes and they don't have enough depth in the minors to trade for the players they need.
