Dr. CJ Wilson just announced to Anaheim that he will need season ending surgery on his bone spurs on his elbow.

Hector Santiago, their best performing SP is just about done, as well. At 27, the Lefty has 123.1 IP, with 127.1 IP in 2014 and 149.0 IP in 2013 in his 3 full seasons in MLB as a SP. He has only 5 IP in each of his last 3 GS, giving up 3 ERs and 5 ERs in the last 2.

28 year old Matt Shoemaker has 104.0 IP, closing in on his career high of 136 IP, last season.

Jered Weaver is on the DL and will begin a rehab.

Andrew Heaney will start to get lit up.

Today August 1st, the Halos 55-47 and have a SP ERA of 3.65 (266 ER /629 IP), 3rd in the AL. Their BP is 3.56 (109 ER / 275.1 IP).

I predict from this day, to the end of the season, the Halos will have a team SP ERA over 4.20 and their BP is over 4.50, and they do NOT make the playoffs..

Kela sent down to AA. Sorry to see...he was fun to watch.

What does scheppers have to do to earn a demotion? I'd have sent him down over Kela, unless he's out of options.

Hamels was acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Phillies that was announced yesterday. He is scheduled to make his Texas debut in a start tonight against the San Francisco Giants, his first game since throwing a no-hitter last Saturday against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Hamels has gone 6-7 with a 3.64 ERA (52 ER/128.2 IP) in 20 games/starts for the Phillies this season, holding opponents to a .233 (113-486) average with 39 walks and 137 strikeouts.

In his career, Hamels has been a 3-time All-Star (2007, 2011, 2012), posted 200-or-more innings 6 times, had 6 different 10-win seasons, and was selected most valuable player of both the 2008 National League Championship Series and 2008 World Series. He has a 114-90 record and 3.30 ERA over 295 games/294 starts in his major league career.

Dyson was acquired in a trade with the Miami Marlins yesterday. He has gone 3-3 with a 3.68 ERA (18 ER/44.0 IP) in 44 relief appearances for the Marlins this season, already establishing major league career highs in games and innings pitched. He has been in the Miami bullpen the entire season. Dyson has a career 6-6 record and 3.87 ERA over 82 games/one start in the majors with Toronto (2012) and Miami (2013-15).

Kela has gone 5-5 with one save and a 3.30 ERA over an American League-leading 49 appearances in his first major league action this season. He ranks among A.L. relief leaders in decisions (T1st, 10) and wins (T4th, 5).

Chirinos has batted .226 with 9 home runs and 33 RBI in 70 games/69 starts behind the plate for Texas this season. He ranks 5th among American League catchers in RBI and T6th in home runs. The first date Chirinos would be eligible to return is August 15.
