I honestly don't like that they'll call that an out... I feel as long as you touch the bag, you should have a few inches to complete the slide... I'd now teach players to not try and stand up at all, until they call time.

Although I will happily take the result, I absolutely hate that replay has brought us to this point. If you're going to call that an out, I don't see how you don't challenge every "neighborhood play" on 6-4-3 and 4-6-3 double plays.

I can't remember the last time I saw someone challenge that.

The only thing I don't like about that replay is that any good the Astros did this series is completely wiped out. The narrative will be that we only won because of an iffy replay. McCullers' effort will be completely dismissed. I guarantee you will hear more about the replay after today then his awesome pitching performance.

Not familiar with MLB replay rules. Does each team get a limited number of replays? Is there any penalty for calling for a replay that doesn't result in an overturned call?

It used to happen all the time (the phantom sweep of the foot by the bag) and I haven't seen it this season I assume because of replay.

You don't touch the bag, no out. I always hated the phantom out. Glad replay has gotten rid of that.

Back in my daughters softball days, we had a similar play at 3rd against the Louisiana Voodoo out of Lake Charles. The Voodoo 3rd baseman chased our runner down and tagged her with an empty glove, with the ball in her throwing hand. Ump called the runner out and I argued the call. The two umps walked to the SS grass talked for a minute or so and agreed with me and called her safe instead. At the point in time, the Voodoo coach went ballistic and eventually got kicked out of the game. We won 2-1. I took a chance and luckily got the call.

Yost: "I know we told you to drill Springer but there's a runner on first now, so hold off."

That was a great AB from Altuve. Huge improvement from the rest of the series.
