Lots of blame to spread around. Obvious bright spot was Baker. Hopefully this start boosts his confidence and he can keep producing in whatever role he's needed.

Huh? Their top 4 starters are out and they gave up 2 runs in the first 8 innings. JD is a bad GM because his backup pitching staff gave up 2 runs?

What GM builds two capable pitching staffs? Most can't complete one.

If someone wants to hate on JD, there is other ammo starting with Fielder. But hating on him because there aren't 8-10 quality MLB starting pitchers (not developing, but ready right now) in the organization is moronic. And you know what? We might even find out they do have 8-9, which would be amazing.

Right now our top 4 projected starters are hurt. The 5th was a crapshoot and one of those (Scheppers) is hurt too. Find me any team in the league that could deal with that.

How long have we known that Holland was going to be out for an extended period? How long have we known that Harrison/Lewis might not be 100%?

Who did you want JD to go get at the 11th hour after Holland went down?

Tanaka for 155 mill?

Ubaldo for 50 mill?

Nolasco for 50 mill?

Scotter for 30 mill?

Garza for 50 mill?

Injuries happen. For the Rangers, they happenned at a historically high rate this year. Blaming JD for not having a second starting rotation on tap shows a basic lack of understanding of how baseball teams are built.

And, all of this *****ing while they're a game over .500 with the offense actually being the real issue, not the starting pitching.

They are 5-2 (and a flub away from 6-1)on a road trip that even in their best years could have easily gone 2-5 considering their inability to get it done in Minn. and Detroit...

11 IP, 2 ER, 10 K, 2 BB for Baker and Saunders combined over the past two nights.

Saunders is a guy with over 200 career starts, and some decent seasons. 89-82 career record.

Baker is similar to Saunders. A guy who's been around the block a few times and has tasted success. 63-49 career record.

Now, I don't expect to get these results every time out from these two. However, guys like this don't just forget how to pitch all of a sudden. They know what it takes, and it's been nice to see them accept their roles of late.

Baker could hold down the backend of the rotation.

Saunders is smoke and mirrors. Most nights he's not going to give you better than 5IP/4ER.

This lineup definitely is missing a player like Cruz right now.

Ogando threw 2 strikes in a row and blue called them balls. Wow.

Four of our 5 SPs probably don't make too many rotations in MLB.
Martinez - Should be at AA
Tepesch - Should be at AAA
Colby - Should be Retired
Saunders - Should be a spot starter for a team decimated with injuries.

Tepesch was so good at AAA this year that I thought he might actually be ready for the bigs. I guess not.

Headed out to RBiA tonight. "I Like Texas" popped up on shuffle on the drive to work this morning. Maybe it's an omen that we snap the streak.

Probably not, though.
