Thus even is the runner "tags" it would be a force out and run would not count.

Dave Cameron (I believe it was him) wrote about this that the rule could be exploited. I kind of hope teams do start exploiting so it forces a midseason change to the rule. It's idiotic at best.

Fielder can't intentionally drop a ball in his glove to force the situation.

At the very least he'd have to do a convincing fake.

Only real question is if the rule gets changed mis-season or if they wait until 2015.

Seemingly all you would have to do is **** up the transfer though right? That doesn't seem like a difficult thing to fake.

Agree. Changing this rule was submoronic. The old approach has always been fine. They need to reverse it pronto.

You need to have it just long enough that the runners start returning to their original base and then fake drop it. Do that and you've got a great chance to double up teams when they have runners at 1st and 2nd.

The complaint is: Adduci PH for Choice in the bottom of the 9th?

Let's look at the numbers...

Choice: 1 for 2 in the game. Batting .211 for the season.

Adduci: Batting .375 for the season.

The pitcher: Farquhar. A RHP.,

Choice - RHB, who is 1 for 8 against RHP, and 3 for 11 against LHP.

Adduci - LHB is 3 for 8 against RHP.

So the complaint is that two platoon guys get substituted for each other because the pitcher dictates that all-day every-day, and suddenly it is a stupid move?

You either don't know baseball, you don't know the players on the roster or you are just looking to complain about Wash.

We go through this every year... There are things I don't like about Wash's ability to manage a game, but let's stick to what is a bad decision, not every decision made that we want to be bad because Wash or someone else did it.

You take the guy batting 0.125 against RHP over a guy who is hitting 0.375?

Your obvious next response is "small sample size."

Baker did well for the Rangers because he was kept for what he was good at. He was a platoon situational guy. Right now... Choice and Aducci are platoon situational guys, and PH Choice when he got the HR was a good move that could have occured the same last night.

Well it is a ****ty sample size. 8 ABs doesn't really tell you much. That's not to say whether or not I agree with the move, but using 8 ABs as something meaningful is a bit of a joke.

Interesting story...

I was watching one of the Rangers' pre/post game shows and it was about ST.

They indicated that Joey Gallo, who is from Las Vegas, had met Mike Maddux prior to being drafted by the Rangers.

He had taken one of Maddux' daughters to prom.

Asked how that went, he indicated he still talks to him regularly. Indicated there wasn't an incident and that the date went well. He smiled. Asked if they are still dating, he indicated no.

I was reminded of Brendan Morrow dating... and eventually marrying Guy Carbonneau's daughter (Dallas Stars).

It is one thing to date a girl at work... it is another to date the daughter of a guy who has that much power over your career.

I know Oakland has some serious injuries but you're overlooking them if you think all it will take is Texas getting healthy to win the division. Doesn't help that Oakland has a good opportunity to put some ground between us the rest of the month with 6 games against Texas and 7 against the Astros.

Not discounting the A's, but I feel like that team is only capable of winning the division when LA or Texas has significant injuries/falters.

Put all 3 teams at full strength for a season and Oakland will come in 3rd nine times outta ten.
