Sox have a nice road trip going. 2 out of 3 vs. Texas. A night off and now in Minneapolis to play the Twinkies.

Hunter giving up a long ball? That was an easy one to call. Seriously. We. Need. A. Closer.

Ortiz hits a couple of dingers in a game that I gave up on early. Sox came back but lost it on a walkoff in the 9th.

Back under .500 and trailing 4-0. Blech.

Funny, this season is what I was expecting last season and last season is what I was hoping for this season.

Sox signed Stephen Drew. I never thought I'd be happy to see a Drew back in Boston, but I am. He is MUCH better defensively and equally as good as anyone they've had at SS.

And just like that Xander Bogaerts hits into a double play with the bases loaded with 1 out and a 3-1 count.

This ridiculous losing streak needs to stop!

The Sox have a better record that ONLY one AL Team. The effing Astros!

Rough season so far, but with no lack of excitement lately. Three walk off wins in three games for the Rays.

"No no, throw it TO second base."

Jonny Gomes gonna Jonny Gomes.

Much needed sweep of the Dead Sox.

More Cruz missles.

dead sox is 100% accurate. they looked like a bunch of zombies out there. Gomes showed a little passion at least. What was escobar doing, taking 3rd with a 5 run lead in the 7th?

1. Even AJ Pisszysnki stood up and started to throw. That nobody bothered to cover third isn't Escobar's fault.
2. Jose Molina was at bat. Jose "seven singles and three walks to seventeen strikeouts" Molina. Jose ".255 OPS" Molina. Jose "0 RBI" Molina. Escobar is more likely to score on a WP/PB than any kind of ball in play.
3. The Sox ended up getting two in the ninth. It's not impossible that they could've gotten more.
4. As Maddon mentioned, the Red Sox have done similar things in the past.
5. Deal with it the baseball way. Give Escobar some chin music next time you see him.
6. How's that 10 game losing streak feel?

1. fair enough point
2. fair enough point
3. normally a very valid point, but in the context of the game and the run they've been on there was no chance in hell of them winning that game after the rays pulled out to an 8-3 lead that late.
4. the game maddon brought up occurred in last year's divisional series, and it was 2nd base, not 3rd. When you're on 2nd, you're already in scoring position, obviously not the case on 1st. And there is no etiquette when it comes to the playoffs. Anything goes as far as doing what it takes to get a precious victory. A game in late may between the 2 lowest teams in the division, not so much.
5. They may decide to do this when they meet up at fenway later this week. And to a man, none of them said they necessarily had an issue with him taking the bag, just the way he acted after the fact with the pointing into the dugout and taking off his helmet.
6. if you're gonna suck, may as well suck at a level near historic proportions. They won the WS last year so there's a grace period. Simply not enough talent on the team this year to expect big things.

The Rays haven't exactly been lighting it up lately either, as evidenced by Toronto routing them tonight.

Escobar doesn't look at the dugout until Ross starts mouthing off. I think you forfeit the right to baseball retaliation once you cause a brawl. Tampa has more reason to throw at Gomes than the Red Sox at Escobar.

The games would have to be as precious for the two last place clubs in May as they are for the two leading clubs in September and October. A loss may still mean elimination, only the date on the calendar differs.

Papi hit a grand slam before the rain came in. He threw the Sox on his very large shoulders and carried the team to win for the first time in what seems like 2 weeks!

With that nasty movement, I don't see why Britton isn't our closer. At least until we got a real one.

Tonight is 2004 appreciation night!

The Sox have a great number of the 2004 team in the booth and on the field.

Great show!
