I dozed off before he hit the game winning HR.

Reds jumped on Hendricks early today. The offense is really sputtering, with Schwarber being the obvious exception. I'm not sure how long the starters can keep replicating the kinds of starts we've been getting. Pitching has really been dominating the game, but the Cubs lineup has been victimized to the tune of team batting average of .239.

They're 27th in hits, 27th in total bases, 26th in average, 25th in slugging, and 22nd in OPS. A few more guys need to start hitting.

yet another WTF send by Gary Jones with Fowler in the 9th. I guess maybe you take a little more risk in that situation facing Chapman, and it eventually all worked out... but still.

I thought it was the right thing to do. Have to go for it with Fowler running and Chapman on the mound. Give credit to Byrd for making a perfect throw.

Agree with junk. The odds you get multiple hits off Chapman are slim. I was upset that Fowler seemed to just assume and start coasting into 3B. I don't understand how in that situation you can't be more aware and get a great secondary lead and run with the assumption you're scoring on any hit. Just seemed very content jogging into 3B which I did not like seeing.

I will admit i watched the condensed game last night, so i probably didn't get a great look at Fowler letting up on the gas. It just seemed like Byrd had a pretty easy play on it from shallow left and the throw got there well before Fowler. But the pessimist in me also knows that if Marlon Byrd has the slightest chance to screw the Cubs by making the most ridiculous play, he comes through every time.

It shows that Fowler did slow down coming into third, and the announcers comment on it. Looks like he thought there was no way he'd get sent, put his head down for a second, then looks up while slowing down to realize he's getting waved.

Lester on the mound against the Phillies in an hour. They're starting former Cub Jerome Williams.

Unacceptable to lose to the Phillies at home after a day off with Lester on the mound vs a no name scrub. Not a playoff team right now IMO.

I'll admit that we're a year ahead of where I thought the Cubs would be in terms of product on the field, but it's hard to watch the Cubs on offense.

This game came around rumors that the Cubs are looking to get Hamels, and shopping Javier Baez and Starlin Castro. The last I saw of them looking for a bat was either Gerardo Parra or Will Venables.

Schwarber in LF, Soler & Castro out today. Not sure if one or both may be involved in a pending trade or if they are just getting a day off. I know Starlin has been discussed with the Padres.

Please please please trade Starlin, although I doubt he will be. I'd be shocked if Soler went anywhere. He's a cornerstone piece IMO.
