I can't believe an organization has no viable alternative for #5 starter. I know we have two guys that went down, but we have to have something better than James Russell. Granted, his game was better today than his last outing but it's hard not to get worse than that.
Both Wells & Cashner are supposed to start throwing again tomorrow, I believe.

I had a little e-mail exchange with our own Carrie Muskat on John Grabow. My argument was that the Cubs needs to send him packing, even though he is being paid a moderate 5M (which he is absolutely not worth). She said he is the least of the Cubs issues, which I respectfully disagreed with. His WHIP is a God awful 2.4!!! Get him the hell outta there!

The Cards are starting to put it together. It'd be nice for them to hit a lull, but they play HOU next. I guess they've still got two against Cinci.
One of the guys on Comcast Sports (before the season) predicted the Cubs to be right around .500 all year - after the first month is coming to a close, I think he is spot on. I think we're a couple of bats, an elite starting pitcher and improved team speed away from being a serious contender.

Either due to injury or inconsistency, the Cubs starting pitching has been the most disappointing as of late. Just not as sharp as they've been in past, recent seasons
The Dempster contract was always a waste in my opinion. He was never a great pitcher and we should have got what we could for him back then, or sign a stud FA. Big Z will come around soon here.
