I'll preface by saying I'm a Spurs fan. Everything Bowen does is legal. Is it dirty? I don't know, that's pretty subjective. If a player jumps, and you put your foot under the spot where he will land, is that dirty? I don't know, but it is not illegal. It's a grey area.

Somebody like JET however, has a history of throwing punches. That's clearly dirty, as there is absolutely no place for that.

I think it is a valid point, but the player poll that everyone keeps referring to, who conducted it? How "scientific" was it?

I hate polls, and I think they can be unfairly influenced by multiple factors, so I refuse to trust them.

For instance, of the 248 players that were "surveyed", how many of them have been defended by BB in a game? A hanful of them, sure, but how many of the votes were from guys who have never gone one-on-one with BB, but simply offered their opinion based on what they "heard from someone else"? Of the guys who offered their "opinions" that have gone one-on-one with BB, how many of them are big ego/scoring guys who BB simply frustrated and shut-down, and instead of taking responsibility for the fact that BB simply outplayed them, the would rather call his tough, physical play "dirty"?

Their is no doubt that Stackhouse and Terry are the closest to being dirty players on the Mavs. They both are very short tempered and Terry's punch on Finley was inexcusable.
It seems that fans of other teams are going to think that Bowen is dirty and Spurs Fans are not. However, most of those same fans would still like to have Bowen on their team, including myself as a Mavs fan. I have been reading all the Bowen threads and have to admit that Big Worm, you are very persistent in defense of your man and make many valid points.

I am a fan of good, well-thought conversation, and I welcome differing opinions from those who are willing to have the conversation without muying it up.

Players only get suspended for obvious violations that appear intentional. Dirty plays are not always obvious and do not always appear intentional. If something like this happens in a crowd and the cameras don't catch it and there's no suspension, that doesn't mean it's not dirty.

Fair enough, but Bowen has been in the league for 12-seasons. If he is as "dirty" as some people have claimed, chances are that he would have been punished A LOT more over time than he actually has.

But over the 984 (not including playoffs) games that he has been in the league for, he has only received 2 fines, and ZERO suspensions. Does he pull some stuff that might be bending the rules without breaking them? NO DOUBT. But, name me one NBA player that doesn't. My point is that to label BB as "one of the dirtiest players in the league" is simply not supported by the facts.

John Stockton is not a dirty player, I guess.
