There are alot of fans saying that Carter Bryant can't play the 4 but I think he has shown that he can defend bigger players even as a rookie. Give him playoff experience and a full off-season in the weight room and I think he can be a starter next year.
He's 6'6.5" and 215-220lbs. He isn't ideal as a PF, but teams are playing so many big wings at PF now that it doesn't matter as much against most teams. I have no problem with him guarding Chet or Jabari or PJ Washington, or Tobias Harris, etc. It hurts you when you are matching up with bigger, stronger guys like KAT or Julius Randle.
I think he will be, but we will probably draft a guy like Morez Johnson that matches up better against bigger PFs.
I think Carter does fine holding his own against finesse wings like Chet and Durant even if they are bigger than him, but as Guitar alludes to, there are a few teams with really physical 4's like Julius Randle or Giannis that he's not a good matchup with.
The more I think about it, the more I wish we kept Jeremy riding the bench just for those few moments where we'd put an all defensive lineup out there and he'd be a good extra defender. He adds more than Lindy Waters will ever add to this team.
Imagine a final possession situation where we could put Carter, Castle, Sochan and Wemby on the floor defensively.
