Remember when Phil Jackson only coached home games because of his back? We could do that. Pop gets to pick which games he coaches and the other guys handle the rest.

New big board. I like their content. EP - they have your guy Queen at #5.

I guess he soaked up everything he can at BYU and is ready to move on.

I really liked him early in the season, but the rigorous Big 12 proved that wasn't quite real. In Non-Conference, he put up 13/5/6 on 49/39 shooting. But then the rest of the year it was 10/4/5 on 39/24 shooting. Also awful defense. He has some playmaking chops, but can't finish or shoot and plays no defense. However, he is 6'9. So Russian Giddey, maybe? I think someone takes a shot at him late in the lottery or mid-teens.

This guy has declared. Played for Nikola Topic's old team in the ABA. I like him for the 2nd round pick. Most big boards have him in the early 2nd.

He put up 14/7/3 in 29mpg on 53/39 shooting. Listed at 6'11 190lb forward. Defense maybe not so great yet.

If Castle was in this years draft would we still take him?

This years draft is much deeper than last year. I think Castle would go top 10 in this years draft and we would take him at 8. I guess we would take him over Kon.

We knew castle would be good but he has exceeded expectations

Do we have their draft grades last year or know what they did this year? Knowing what they did this year, Castle goes top 3.

That's a good point, and I guess he would go top 3.

But it was more if he was coming out of college into this draft

And Brooklyn won. Next game is Hawks at Brooklyn on Friday. Get a winning streak, going, Nets!

Nets are 3 games behind Philly and 3 games ahead of Toronto, so they can actually play to win.

Chicago and Miami play each other next so one of them is guaranteed to tick up to 37 wins and will have 2 games remaining.

I am hoping Miami wins and goes 3-0 because they own the tiebreaker over Atlanta (division record, if my quick google read of the rules is right) and would only need the Hawks to drop 1 game of their last 3.

Chicago on the other hand would have to go 3-0 and hope Atlanta loses 2 of 3 against that charmin soft schedule because the Hawks own that tiebreaker (conference record). Unlikely.

Sounds like a plan. Needed Chicago to pickup the unlikely win tonight against Cleveland.

I also think Miami is the toughest matchup for Atlanta (as compared to Chicago) because of their strong front court vs Atlanta's rotation of 6'8 Okongwu, Niang, and Zaccy Racecar.

I don't know why, but I just have a feeling that the more free flow play of the NBA will really bring out the best of Queen during an 82 game season.

Now in the playoffs... when stuff gets serious and teams really target your weaknesses, maybe he's a huge liability. But I've got a feeling that the kid is going to be a winning player on offense with his ability to finish and facilitate. Also the good free throw shooting makes me think that a 3 point shot is in his future.

My concern about Queen is his fit next to Wemby. IMO for him to realize his full potential, he needs to play in a role similar to Sengun, where the offense plays through him in the high and low post, short roll facilitator, etc. Now we're taking the ball out of Wemby's (and Fox) hands and not improving the spacing problems we already have. Defensively the fit is even more awkward because Queen can't move his feet and switch on the perimeter, he'd have to guard the opposing big at the basket. So now you're taking by far the best rim protector in the league and forcing him to chase and guard people on the 3 point line while playing a very subpar rim protector behind him.

I think Queen has a ton of potential as an offensive hub for a team, but I don't think he fits with what we have at all.

Kon Knueppel break down. Pretty detailed. Guy says he was a college coach, but I have no clue who he is.

Orlando vs Boston tonight. Orlando is 2 games up on Atlanta with 1 game left between the two on the last game of the season. Boston has clinched the 2 seed, so nothing left to play for. Orlando adding another win would be really great for them to increase the buffer with Atl's soft schedule.

Heat vs Bulls. I think we all want the Heat to win and get that 8 seed. Hawks are 1 game up on both Bulls and heat. Miami has Washington and New Orleans after this game, so they win tonight and they can win out. Chicago has Washington and Philly, so they can also win out. Miami's tie breaker is divisional wins and they are up one on Atlanta with only the Washington game left. Atlanta has Orlando left.

Heat winning out, Hawks losing to Orlando in the last game and getting shocked by Brooklyn or Philly is our best case scenario for Atlanta getting the 9 seed.

Boston sat everyone against Orlando tonight. Starting lineup:

Baylor Scheierman
#55
Torrey Craig#12
Sam Hauser#30
Luke Kornet#40

Chicago won tonight. They have a great chance of winning out. Need Atlanta to drop two of their last 3 so they can play the Heat in a 9-10 matchup. Atlanta has the tie breaker with Chicago.

Orlando has clinched that 7 seed. They may not play a single player in that last game of the season.

Or they may want to play to get the record at or above .500. Last two games are Indiana and Atlanta and they are 40-40.

Portland choked away an easy win to Utah and let Flipkowski put up 30/18/5/3/2.

Good win but it's very possible we just threw away the 8th lottery position. Given the remaining schedule and incentive, I can see us finishing in a 3 way tie with Portland and Phoenix. I can never remember but in a 3 way tie they share the odds of a top 4 pick equally right (i.e, average of 8-10)?

Yes. Three way tie would share the odds equally between 8,9,10 and then do a random drawing to see who is seeded 8,9,10.

Are we still doing the thing where players are supposed to lay down and take it on the court for lottery position?

You understand that's not how this works right? The players on the court want to win. Most of them do, anyways

No I don't expect the players to lie down. But you could have the end of the bench out there in the fourth instead of our main guys.

How do you guys think this team will get better without better draft picks? We aren't exactly a free agent paradise.

We just had a top 15 scorer in the NBA at a position of need demand to be traded to the Spurs.

We already got the picks. Wemby and Castle plus Fox is a pretty high end core. We get two more lottery picks this year and nobody is going to convince me that there's a huge difference between picking 7th vs 8th. They won't slip to 9th., so stop the constant belly aching about this.

I'm also pretty sure that if we were really fall in love with a player in the draft not named Flagg (no one is giving up the #1 pick), we could combine our assets to move up to draft him.
