Dumb question here.
Why/How does a kid coming out of high school decide to go into the G League vs College? Watching the draft with my son and I realized I haven't paid attention in a while.

Players like Brandon Jennings went to play in Europe for a year rather than college. In many cases it is because they can't qualify academically.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS - B
The Spurs are making a bet on Castle, whose ultimate upside is in the eye of the beholder. The 19-year-old national champion is one of the best point-of-attack defenders in the draft. For a player with solid size as a wing, he stays attached to much smaller guards and navigates screens intuitively, flattening himself to slide into the gap between a pick-and-roll. It's beautiful to watch him on that end. The bigger question will be whether the Spurs believe Castle has the makings of a point guard, which is how he was perceived as a high school star. And if they do, are they really ready to go into another season without a proven starter at the position? Can Castle make advanced reads and decisions at the highest level to justify keeping the ball in his hands? Can he generate easy opportunities for himself? And if not, will he be able to shoot consistently enough to not be an off-ball liability? Granted, whatever happens, it'll probably be more successful than the Jeremy Sochan experiment, but these are the questions awaiting the Spurs as they figure out how best to build around their unprecedented star in Victor Wembanyama. Castle has all the winning traits you look for in a player; the Spurs must have the confidence that they can make him a star.

Because Castle and Carter can both play on or off ball and Matas and Knecht have lower ceilings.Earth Rider said:
I'm probably wrong but why would we get castle and Carter, two point guards. We should get a wing. Matas or Knecht,
