Might be the worst nba draft of my lifetime if Sheppard is a top 2/3 pick. Not saying I don't like the guy but the guy has limitations and really struggled to defend Wade 1v1.

Yea I definitely wouldn't take him with our first. Maybe the Raptors' though. Although getting that pick will likely be just above 50% at best. They are tanking and Bane and JJJ will be coming back soon for the Grizzlies. Hoping we can hold onto the 3rd worst record.

The grizzlies also have an incentive to tank. Chance to grab a high lottery pick that could be a trade chip to get another player to pair with their core. This is kind of like their 1997 Spurs season where injuries put a good team in the lottery.
They do have an incentive to but they won't. During Bane and Smart's absence they won a handful of games they had no business winning. They play hard. Now with Bane back and an easier SOS than Toronto, I bet they separate themselves from Toronto by 3-5 games.

We all love the Aggies, but Wade gets his shot rejected often at the college level because he lacks size, strength and length, he also takes advantage of rules that allow you to randomly crash through the lane and throw it up wildly and hope for fouls.
He's shooting 36% in college... I won't say impossible because I don't want to have to eat crow like many on Alex Caruso... but, highly unlikely that Wade will ever step foot on an NBA court.
There are lots of guys with pure strokes in practice and shoot around, but the fact is that the NBA is a league primarily for those that won the genetic lottery. If you look at the list of guys in the NBA currently that are 6 foot or shorter, outside of Chris Paul and Kyle Lowry, it's a group of guys that are mostly guy 15 on their rosters and exist as practice squad guys. With the way teams switch on defense these days, short guys get absolutely destroyed and become almost unplayable. So you better be generationally good if you want to play in the league at Wade's height.

It would definitely be an uphill battle to get a shot. However, I see several elite traits in Taylor. His shooting percentage is lowered by the type of shots he takes on this team. If he's on a decent NBA team he'd consistently knock down open looks. The NBA is less physical than college. And he already plays better defense than Trae Young.
I would worry about his ability to create off the dribble. He had a lot of trouble with that big guard at Virginia. But he's also not finished product.
Wade does a lot of dumb and reckless things out there. He'd get eaten up by nba level defenders.

Devin has replaced Sochan for me on the untouchable ladder. I like Sochan's defensive toughness but he still makes low iq defensive mistakes. His finishes at the basket make me wonder if he's an actual basketball player at times.

Sochan plays with a fearlessness that I love. He's still learning his own limitations. He plays now like he thinks he's the 7'4" guy

I'm most definitely a fair weather BB fan and man have the Spurs made it easy on me since the mid 90's! Wemby is 100% as advertised... heck, he's probably better because some said it might take him a year or two. Robinson and Rookie Duncan was so much fun.... watching rookie Wemby single handedly wreck teams from time to time is on the same level.
Anyways, I'll go back to lurking... just wanted to stop in, say hello, and wish us well in not winning too many more games this season. If the lottery/draft goes our way, next year could be wild!
