Alright let's see the adjustments for tonight. I've heard different opinions- don't collapse on the driving player but stay home and prevent open 3's. Obviously we gotta do a better job with on the ball defense rather than just letting them slip right past us 30 ft from the hoop.
Kyrie should have a better game. I expect to see our team much less rattled than we were Thursday night.
It's sort of a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation, but I am thinking we go the other way. We need to prevent easy baskets better. Boston was 15/15 at the rim in game 1. League average at the rim is like 65% and Mavs have done a good job all playoffs of keeping teams in the 50-55% range. Boston's twos can't be so easy. You just have to hope they shoot 35-38% from 3 instead of over 40%.
But most of our problems were on offense. Boston had shot about 38% from 3 when the Mavs took out the important players. Kyrie needs to show up from the jump, which he has typically done after a bad game. PJ and DJJ need to be much more locked in. DJJ was absolutely embarrassed by Brown and KP when he tried to score near the basket.
