I disagree. Tillman wants profits more than anything else. Tanking isn't very profitable.

Empty arenas do not make money for Tillman.

If there are no fans, then the league is gonna be in deep, DEEP financial trouble. That's gonna be a genuinely big problem.

Haven't been following this conversation so I apologize if it's been brought up, but couldn't they try and recoup SOME cash by having hard liquor sponsorships and even including casinos?

Go listen to the Bill Simmons podcast that came out a couple of days ago with Ryen Russillo. For the first 40 minutes or so they break down the situation. They actually throw out the idea of having the NBA expand to 32 teams so that the owners get a huge check and recoup some of the money they've lost and will lose the next couple of years. NBA is in a bad spot right now (as are most leagues) and it's pretty much assumed they won't have fans this coming season.

Thanks for the rec. It's going to be really bleak for the NBA next year. This year's FAs aren't getting ***** Don't think anyone is going to be a spender.

I wonder how this will affect draft decisions for college players. They really might be better off staying an extra year in college until the NBA gets back to "normal" or whatever their new normal is.

Yep. We were at one of the bars in the Village when he was on the team and he came in one night by himself and sat at the bar for a beer. One of the girls with us asked him for a picture and he graciously agreed. Was very approachable and just seems like you said an "all time good guy".

SIAP. Feels like a soft trade request.

Let's be honest, these guys are 31 and 32 and their window is closing fast. They aren't going to win a title in Houston and the time to trade them is now, while Harden still has great trade value and while Russ still has some trade value. Yeah it would be more fun to be a competitive playoff team than start a rebuild but I'd rather tear it down and be one step closer to having a title team than to be "competitive" for a few more years before starting from scratch without the benefit of young talent or draft picks that will come in return for these two plus the other veterans that would surely go if they do.

You might be right but I am just not ready to see James go. It would be very tough to know we could have had a few more fun competitive years but we choose to tank, even if that is the right thing to do.

The cap and tax are staying the same.

Can't have two alphas on the same team. One of them gotta make the sacrifice and we all know it's not going to be Harden.
