Can't get closer than 9 points, Lakers shooting 63% from the floor, 54% from the 3-point line and doubling the Rockets up on rebounds.

A quarter and some change to go, but we really did run into a buzzsaw.

1. Lakers defensive strategy was masterful. Didn't rely on a Dort-type stopper. Just double Harden at half-court and run everyone off the line. LeBron and AD have only had to set the tone early in games and then the rest of their group follows through. It's been impressive to watch, can't lie.

2. Playoff Rondo, to me, has been the X-factor. He's hit big shots, made great passes, and come up big on defense at important times.

3. House. Hate to say this about another Ag, but cut him.

4. Russ. He's on the back side of 30 now, so can't rely on his athleticism as much...which means he's pretty much a liability just about everywhere else. You know what to expect with him every night, you just don't know how that will actually translate to the box score. So far, so bad.

Its never been about winning the ring. Its always been about contending and money that contention brings.

And that is on and always has been on ownership.

Rockets Looked like they quit and conceded the series after losing Game 3.

Who else felt weird tonight flipping between checking up on an NBA playoff game and college football scores?

So realistically, are we going to be able to move Gordon/Russ? Harden needs actual help, not guys that pee down their leg in big games or have the basketball IQ of a wall.

Mostly on Leslie Alexander. Years and years of forced 8th seed chases and 9 seed finishes in the late 2000s staying in basketball purgatory.

Daryl's highest draft pick his entire tenure here is 12. To me, 12 and 30 might as well be the same crapshoot.

Tillman is responsible for the CP3 trade. OR Harden and CP3 themselves are. I refuse to believe Daryl thinks Westbrook is good.

I agree, but then what?

Harden is good enough to make nearly any roster competitive and Morey has been mostly very smart with secondary personnel moves, but you're never going to be able to surround Harden with enough to win a championship.

but they didn't, which is why they are a good team, but not anything great.

Unfortunately last night wasn't the first time I didn't watch much of the 2nd half of the Rockets elimination game. It is pretty clear that we aren't built to win it all now so it will be interesting to see what happens to the roster. While we don't seem to have a whole lot of options for a major overhaul I expect Morey to try something.

Good talking to everyone again this year, the Rockets thread is my favorite thread on Texags, even if we end up o with the same disappointment at the end of every damn season.
