Agree. Would have been more scared of them with D-Lo by far over Wiggins.

Well no reason to play next season... good lord that lineup.

Curry

doesn't matter
We were one game & hamstring away from beating an even better version.
But we didn't, and now we're nowhere near as talented.
What a bunch of crybabies!

We traded a fading and injury-prone CP3 for the 2017 MVP. We have replaced an aging Trevor Ariza with a younger and similar wing. We'll see what happens with the 5 spot, but Capela was best known for fading in the playoffs anyway.

So who is the huge talent we are missing? One-armed Luc Mbah a Moute? Tarik Black?
Both teams have regressed greatly.

That being said, CP3 (if healthy) is still so much better than Westbrook. Westbrook's shooting has regressed to the point where I am honest wondering if he can even be played in a playoff series. Tillman (because I subscribe to the conspiracy that this decision went over Daryl's head because Morey's philosophy aligns with Rus like water and oil) basically traded one the best, most efficient and complete players in NBA history for one less year of future payouts. And its his money so you can't be mad at him.

That being said, the Warriors went from Durant to Wiggins. That's going from an A+ to an F+ in that position. So they regressed too.

He had a rough start to the season adjusting to a totally new situation, but he finally stopped trying to force 3s and these last 10 games he's averaging 33 9 & 9 on 52% shooting.

And you don't want to play him in a playoff series?

So what does this mean? Are we pretty much not serious contenders this year but at least have some cap-space in the off-season?

Will be active in buy-out market. Going all in on small ball for the rest of this season - not sure if that's a good thing.

Looks to me like Morey has committed to small ball for Pringles last hurrah. He either takes us to the promised land or we find a new coach next for year.

"The Rockets have won their past four games playing with small lineups, save the nine minutes center Isaiah Hartenstein has played. They were 10-1 this season in games Capela missed."

From a chronicle article just posted.

the Rockets are close to "blow up" time. We were so close the last few years, just couldn't get past one of the biggest dynasty in recent NBA. However, the Rockets are slipping further and further back and this lineup won't compete in the playoffs. The offseason will be interesting...how do you restructure the roster to make another run in 3-4 years?

Les had a never tank policy but I have a feeling Tillman may not have the same distaste for a real blow up. Will be interesting to see.

Seriously, wtf are the Pistons thinking here??

They were trying to get anything of value for him, but there just wasn't a market. This helps them rebuild now rather than hoping that Drummond doesn't opt in to the final year of his deal worth almost 30 mill. They knew they weren't going to give him what he wants contract wise, so now they'll have extra cap space to use moving forward. They're likely a long way off from relevance though either way.

I was happy with the Westbrook trade... it was worth the risk. That said, maybe it gets better, but I would not call it successful thus far. Tried to tell people last summer, but that deal was different from others... the Rockets really have no real bullets to get significantly better in the next couple of years and that includes the Covington deal. I don't think the Rockets got worse, but this doesn't make them better either.

I don't think the Rockets tank at this point since OKC owns the prime pick position or pick the 3 seasons where tank picks would probably be the most beneficial to the Rockets (2024-2026). Think everyone should just get ready for a lot of 3-7 seed seasons for the next 3-5 years.
