Been thinking about this because I think it is truer now than a few years ago. If not this summer, it may be a long time in LA without much help.
I wonder if this guy is coming because I don't see a lot of teams willing to commit big money to him, but the Lakers probably would:

Magic screwed up by drafting Ball. A better selection there (which would have been better trade fodder) and Davis is likely a Laker right now.
Surprised this angle isn't being discussed more. Some of Magic's antics have probably made it harder for some GM's to deal with him after the whole Paul George thing and some of the trade leaks and botched deals. If I weren't a really established GM, I'm not sure I'd want to do a deal with him given public reactions to proposals.

Haven't had a good nba lottery conspiracy since the Knicks frozen envelope. If a Lebron-led Lakers defies the odds and lands a top 3 pick (or, God forbid, gets Zion), that should do it.

Magic wasn't going to let lefraud ruin his legacy. Good for him. The one guy lepoop couldn't blame for his failures which was going to happen next year after another playoff miss in the west.

If the Lakers want to get this thing on track the first thing they need to do is ignore Lebron and find the best coach possible to get the best out of the rest of the team. Lebron sucks as a GM, he doesn't need to pick the players or the coach.
If the coach comes out of this list I would go with Howard. Lebron was best as a player while working with Spoelstra, and Howard has been on the staff a long time. Howard is going to get a HC job soon, if not the Lakers then someone else will give him a shot.

He's excited to tweet again and be magic again. Probably already made plans to be on TV during the playoffs. Unfortunately.
I think he liked attending NBA games, probably not into analytics, college games, scouting, summer league, or meetings.

Lebron isn't blameless in the Lakers debacle... but Magic not only failed at 3 of 4 attempts to get superstars to LA, but he managed to burn bridges on the opportunities where it makes it hard for those superstars to ever end up there.

Lebron is an STD to any organization. Continual reminder of the big moment you had one time, likely premature like the many finals losses, and the unsightly aftermath festers for years to come. But congrats on that one time.

I was long a fan of Lebron up until about 2 years ago when everything became way too manufactured. It was great he brought the title to Cleveland. Ever since that moment he has been working towards a different goal as an 'icon' which is fine. But I'm also going to laugh my ass off if LA trades him. No way they do that though. They'll just give him more power because of how ****ed their entire organization is.
