I am not sure if standing 5 ft behind the 3 pt line and dribbling for 20 seconds before throwing up a shot and hoping for a foul is winning basketball. He seems to drive less in the playoffs and throw up more contested 3 pointers. Just a little more ball movement would do a lot.

So my question this morning is who stands to gain anything by putting this false report out there? Is another team in the NBA trying to drive a wedge through Harden/CP3 so the Rockets will effectively break up or have drama most of the season. OR is this just the media being lazy and searching for a story now that the season is over and they want to stay relevant?

Either way, I was glad to see CP3/Morey/Feigen/Ackerman and others refute the report almost instantly. The stories about CP3 and his demeanor towards Harden/Tucker and others is actually fantastic. With Dantoni being a players coach its nice to have someone with a veteran presence in the locker room that will hold others accountable and not be afraid to speak his mind.

CBS Sports put a list of possible trades out.

Boston: Chris Paul for Gordon Hayward

Phoenix: Chris Paul for #6, TJ Warren, Josh Jackson, Tyler Johnson

Orlando and Memphis:
Orlando receives Chris Paul
Houston receives Mike Conley
Memphis receives Aaron Gordon, DJ Augustine, #16 from Orlando, Future 1st from Houston

Minnesota: Paul for Wiggins, Saric, Bates-Diop

Miami: Paul for Gorman Dragic, James Johnson, Derrick Jones Jr

Minnesota and Miami deals are snoozers to me, but the others all look pretty solid.

I wouldn't touch Hayward. If his college coach gives up on him, I think he might be damaged beyond repair.

But with Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum at the same position, his college coach has two very good players playing the same position that are significantly younger and significantly cheaper without the major injury history.

The only thing that would bother me about switching Paul for Conley is they aren't that far apart in age, and one of the benefits of dumping Paul's contract would be to open up cap space. Conley is still getting payed 30+ this year and next.

Gordon has 19-20 for 32.7mm and has a player option for 20-21 for 34.2mm.

So he is owed over the next two years about half of what Chris Paul is owed over the next three.

Gordon only put up 11.5/4.5/3.4 last year on .466/.333/.834 shooting in 25.9mpg. But Boston was pretty loaded, too.

Last year in Utah he put up 22/5/3.5 on .471/.398 shooting.

Conley gets 32 million next year and 34 the year after, then he is off the books.

CP3 gets 38, 41, 44 over the next 3.

That Conley contract is huge, but somehow CP3's makes it seem like a bargain.

Edit: after looking at CP3s contract and reading others responses I'd probably take Hayward too. There is enough promise and cap relief to make it worthwhile.

Definitely agree that Conley's contract is more favorable than Paul.

Not a bad move for Memphis, especially since they are getting Morant tomorrow night.

Holy ****, Conley is perfect for the Jazz. *********it.

Utah just needs to add another shooter and they will be pretty lethal. Korver/Crowder were responsible for a lot of their success from 3
