I don't think it matters which officials step on to the court. They're pushing the league's agenda either way. Silver gets what he wants.

I can tell you it does. These three individuals are widely regarded as the worst by the players in the league.

I used to be a huge NBA fan, never missed a game. Years ago watched the refs steal it from Sacramento against the Lakers, stopped watching. Tuned in tonight, recalled why I stopped watching. Rigged

The Portland series was just as bad. Gosh I hated those Lakers.

I would think that a rigged league would want Cleveland to take the first game to get everyone's attention.

Those saying "Silver gets what he wants" and those who always talk about the league being rigged are going to need to explain on what planet would the league want GS to win this game.

A much more reasonable explanation of the refs tonight is this: they suck and missed calls on both ends- with more egregious ones going against the Cavs.

Man, the reporters trying to get LeBron to say he can read JR's mind are really annoying.

I don't buy that the league is rigged, but I also can't understand how those 3 officials are the best that they can come up with for the finals. Everybody knew the moment they were announced that we were in for a poorly officiated game and that's exactly what we got. They need to hire and train better officials.

I can't think of an athlete I despise more than Draymond Green, even since his days under Izzo. He literally never closes his mouth... Always talking or breathing with it wide open. He truly is a POS person/player.

mocking a dude who just went for 51/8/8 in a NBA finals game and without blatant ref whiffs on both ends of the court would have sent your super team down 1-0 at home is about as clueless as it gets.

It is absolutely peak Draymond Green. He is so wildly overrated.

I just don't know how Lebron doesn't lose his **** all the time. He's got to have played the most minutes of any player in the NBA over the past however many seasons. He's dragged some teams to the Finals that without him would have no business being there (this year included).

I don't really feel like he can give much more on either end of the floor in terms of effort and impact. Dropped freaking 51 last night, and lost. And then to lose the way they did with the refs and JR Smith having an all-time sort of idiot play, just absolutely BRUTAL. I do not know how he didn't absolutely explode last night.

That charge to block call completely changed the game. Even Javie said it was a charge. I don't understand why the Warriors get the benefit of so many calls, but it's really frustrating.

And eff Draymond. Him doing whatever he was doing at the end while the Cavs were shooting free-throws was absolutely childish and ridiculous for a grown man. The only Warrior I don't mind is Klay. Even Kerr is starting to rub me the wrong way.

They not only get the benefit of the calls all the freaking time regardless of Home or away, but they seem to always get really lucky with the other team sustaining a crucial injury.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lebron is hurt before the finals are over.

Why do they get the calls though? It doesn't seem to be good for the NBA to have these superteams win, so why would the refs favor them? The easiest two reasons I can see the refs deliberately favoring are team are 1) extend the series to generate more money for league/teams and 2) betting/gambling implications (like Donaghy).

The Warriors are good enough as is. They don't need the help of the refs or unfortunate injuries to their opponents.

Dude... Nailed it. I like Thompson, but nobody else in that organization. And I'm positive any of us could "coach" the Warriors to at least one championship. Kerr's a joke, and that's coming from a Spurs fan who loved him in the silver/black.

Green makes my ****ing skin crawl. I can't imagine cheering for him on my team. Just a disgusting person.

The worst part about him is how he tries to pass himself off as a good guy off the court after acting like a complete POS on the court.

Rockets got jobbed last round and folks act like they're surprised about what happened last night, not that i watched that bull***** I guess it only matters if LeBron is playing.

On the refs:
I think a lot of factors contribute to their **** officiating. They don't get fined for poor officiating, outside of the 2 minute report (which they hate btw) nobody is holding them accountable for their mistakes at the league level, and seniority rules. They are also told by the league what to call and what not to call, maybe not directly, but it has been out there for some time now that the league sends them information before games on what they should focus on. Lastly, I don't think Adam Silver and the rest of the league give a **** about fixing it because people still watch and the NBA is still pretty damn lucrative.

On the charge/block call: I listened to Lue in the post-game presser and he nailed it right on the head. You cannot even go to the video to review the call unless there is a question about whether or not the defender was in the restricted area. That is the baseline you need to meet in order to even get to a review. There is no way in hell you can say that there was any question about whether LeBron was in or out of the restricted area. He was clearly out and trying to make a play. Call should have stood according to the rules, but ref gonna ref.

There is no conspiracy on the calls for last night, just bad officiating. The league wants this series to go 7. They get huge ratings for the Finals, and the more games the better, obviously.

The best chance of this series getting extended would have been for the Cavs to pull off the upset last night.

The officiating was bad, especially down the stretch, but it wasn't rigged.

It certainly feels like the Cavs let their best chance to win the series slip away last night. And to lose it the way they did would seem to be very difficult to recover from emotionally.

I wouldn't worry just yet.

As long as the Cavs win 1 out of the next 2, they will be in a game 4 with a chance to tie it up. Hopefully that ends up being the case.

Remember that Cleveland was down 0-2 to Boston last series after two bad losses in Boston. Of course Boston isn't Golden State...

But what was the official call on the floor before the review? My understanding was the baseline official was at first going to call a charge, then deferred to the other official who called it a blocking foul. Based on that situation, the call would have been a blocking foul regardless even without the review?

I haven't seen any clarification on what was the official call before the review.

I don't know the answer to your question. Looked like the baseline ref (Ken Mauer) closest to the play called a charge, the ref on the backside (Tony Brothers) was closer to mid-court staring at Durants back and further away from the play and he wanted a block. It would be one thing if they got together and reversed the call without going to replay. The problem is it shouldn't have been reviewable in the first place, and in my opinion Mauer was closer and should have stuck with his call.

the charge/block was big, but how about the 2 clean strips of Durant and someone else that resulted in 4 FT's for the Warriors combined with a raping of Lebron's wrist by Curry that goes as a no-call turnover by LBJ.

Even though the Cavs battled back, those happened in their 3rd and 4th quarter runs where they ran out by 7-10 points and were just brutally bad missed calls.

That stretch was amazing where they essentially didn't get a single call right, and all in favor of GS. It was a train wreck and if I had anything to do with NBA officiating, I would have been absolutely mortified being associated with such an incompetent **** show being broadcast on prime time network tv.
