Warriors vs Cavs. Oh joy.

This league sucks.

The Rockets got the trophy they were playing for all year: the MVP. They got everything else they could've hoped for too: lots of ticket sales, lots of TV money, and lots of attention.

This is probably as good as it gets for this team. Unkind offseason, and probably a hangover regular season. The problem is and always was Leslie Alexander. He never allowed them to tank when it was smart to do so. Criticize Morey all you want, but Ryan Anderson has his contract because Alexander demanded a 49 win team.
They won 65 games in the regular season and made quick work of 2 solid teams in the playoffs. Not sure how you could watch those 7 games in this series and come away with the opinion that the Rockets aren't every bit as good of a team as the likely NBA champs with a starting lineup full of All-Star caliber players.

You can't tell me 4 straight years of Warriors Cavs in the finals is good for the NBA.

Does nothing for me...I've seen this movie and I'm 99.9% sure I know the ending.

People who think the NBA brass had an 'agenda' for telling the refs to make sure there is Cavs vs Warriors for a 4th straight year....come on. Actually probably Houston vs Cavs would have gotten higher national ratings. Something fresh and different.

A west coast team from LA/Oakland with that amount of firepower against LeBron and round 4 against each other will have less ratings than the rockets?

Get serious

Great season. Glad I followed this team closely. A lot of heart but we just wore down versus a team with four all stars. Our style of play with all the switching and dribbling just wears us down. Hopefully Golden State wins it, pisses off Lebron, and he decides to come to Houston.

I hate the Warriors and how KD just leeched on to them to win titles, but I kind of want them to win in 4 games and win all 4 by 15+ to make it one of the most boring of all time.

I remember tonight why I don't really miss the nba. The rockets were ultimately outclassed by an unbelievably talented team who can shoot incredibly well. But they also thrive off of momentum and that can absolutely be helped. And that is where I have trouble taking the nba seriously.

I have often talked with friends about how the nba isn't going to "fix" a game but I also think you are completely ignoring the obvious if you don't think they influence outcomes. Tonight was a perfect example. Rockets shot horribly but golden state was given the chance to get back into that game by the officials. The calls were that bad as I watched. Time and time again the rockets couldn't buy a call until golden state had all the momentum. Now it is up to the rockets to overcome it and they weren't good enough. But that game was absolutely not called straight up - specifically the 3rd quarter - and they gave golden state the chance to get back into it.

This article certainly supports this theory from a former nba official (the one convicted in points shaving). No fix but certainly a league agenda.

I was hoping for any other combination for the Finals. I don't think there's some grand conspiracy, either. It's an old and stale matchup...but it was up to us and/or Boston to do something about it. Came up snake eyes.

Hard to blame the refs when you miss that many 3's and the other team seems to be making them with their ass hairs.

Once again since you're slow.. no it's not hard. They are part of the reason we were missing.
Tell me again how the refs are making us miss 3's?

I did on the last page. Go read.

And I'll spell it out anyway

Harden was fouled four times tonight shooting threes. No calls. Two of those led to fast break threes for GS.

Do I need to do math for you too, or do you think you can handle that?
Really dude? You're going to lean on 4 no calls and two fast breaks as your argument for why we set an NBA record for consecutive missed 3's.

Yes, dude.

Are you really going to argue that a defense that absolutely flattened a team that can't match our hustle and intensity all of the sudden just decided to play finesses? They were literally allowed to get away with screens where they shoved us to the side. That's another three ****ing points for you. Add on Gordon's mauling, there's another two. Plenty more than that.

I don't disagree with all the bs they were getting away with but we make just 50% of those wide open 3's and it's a different game. Regardless of the officiating you can't win with that kind of piss poor shooting.
Are you really that dense? The whole damn point is the Rockets would have had a good chance to win had the game been called fairly, DESPITE ALL THE MISSED SHOTS.
Conversely, they would have had a good chance to win had they not shot so poorly, DESPITE THE CRAPPY OFFICIATING.

I'm not placing all the blame on any one thing...merely stating that you can't go around blaming a loss on crappy officiating while at the same time setting a league record for consecutive misses 3's. Are you really that dense?

I think the refs were horrible tonight, but when you miss 27 threes in a row it is hard to blame anyone else.

Just trying to point out the parity of the injury what if argument. Most all of us see it as a dumb argument when Longhorns say they would've won another championship if Colt didn't get hurt and they tout is as 100% unrefutabble. It's weak.

There is definitely some national Cavs vs Warriors fatigue, and Houston is the fourth most populous city in the USA. Houston is not a 'small market'. Yes, I think Houston vs Cavs could have been a more competitive and fresher feeling series with higher viewership ratings than Cavs vs Warriors Part 4, but we'll never have the data to know.

I'm actually pulling for the Warriors to sweep or get it done in 5 games. Then have Morey find a way to pair Harden with LeBron. Would finally move him out West and create some interesting storylines throughout the season.

This one really hurts. We faced a Warriors team that struggled to find their rhythm all series long. Took huge leads in Games 6-7 and went cold, more because of our carelessness/inability to hit shots rather than the Warrior's defensive abilities.

The best was Bell clearing out Harden with a tackle to get Young an open 3. Ref standing 5 feet away.

What would the spurs have done had pop not cried foul over white privileged? What if kawhi actually wanted to stay in that boring town?

Please go back to watchin yalls Minor league baseball team while you can before they leave to greener pastures.

I am not blaming anyone. I even said ultimately you have to overcome it. What I am saying is it is hard to watch the non-calls in the 3rd quarter and not believe there isn't an agenda to give golden state a chance to get back into it. No grand conspiracy to give the game to the warriors.

With full maxes for both CP3 and Lebron, both of of them will be making ~50mill in their age 37 and 38 season respectively. Not sure if this is the best path forward. They're old, and it goes quick. CP3 is notoriously injury prone.

Harden had two absolutely disastrous turnovers in the last few minutes of the game. Just terrible passes. If either or both of those are buckets instead of turnovers, I think the outcome is different. Huge momentum killers/swings on both if them.

At some point in this thread in the next week, we're going to have to start having the discussion about giant elephant in the room that we've been avoiding this entire season: this off-season. It's going to be a **** show.

Don't envy Morey. There's really nowhere to turn. Golden State will be together for at least another year and the Rockets have zero cap room and top line players hitting free agency.

I'm emotionally spent right now. I wanted that game so bad. With that said this was the most fun I've ever had following a Rockets team. I still trust that Morey will get us over the hump. We got one step closer this year.
