Oh they absolutely will. Don't kid yourself.
Lebron was 3-15 in a 2010 home game in a playoff loss, after which getting blown out by 32 to get eliminated.

Kobe was 7-23 with 1 assist and 4 TOs in a 40 point 2008 Finals loss.

Basically ruined both of their careers, and this is all both of these players is remembered for.
And Kobe never won the MVP again.

In 2009, Kobe won 65 games (led the West by 11 games), put up 27/5/5 with 1st-Team All-Defense and only got 2 votes for MVP.

In 2011, LeBron won 58 games, second most in the East. LeBron put up 27/7.5/7 and led the league in WS, WS/48, VORP and PER. He received 4 first place votes for MVP.
Well, Kobe only won 1 MVP, so yes he never won another after that series.

Pretty sure Lebron winning 4 of the next 5 years and Kobe's age had something to do with Kobe not getting another one.

Edit: I have to admit, I have no idea what WS, WS/48, or VORP is.
They are pretty common advanced stats.

LeBron didn't win 4 of the next 5. He won two more, but he has a very good argument that he should have won most of the MVPs since then. He won two MVPs before that 2010 playoff collapse.

Kobe's production didn't really drop off for five years after that playoff collapse, but he only got 5 first place MVP votes in the next five years cumulatively. But for those five years, he put up a five year average of 27/5/5/1.5, which happens to be pretty close to his numbers as an MVP in 08 (28/6/5).
I'm not arguing the stats your talking about, but Lebron did win 4 of the next 5 MVPs after Kobe won his first (and only) which plays a pretty big factor as to why Kobe only got 5 first place votes in the next 5 years.

LeBron did not win four of five MVPs after the 2010 playoff collapse

The discussion is how voters will remember how Harden choked. History tells us they will remember it well

Re-read the highlighted portion and try again.

I'm saying Lebron's dominance is the main reason Kobe didn't win another MVP....not because he choked in the playoffs.

I guess your argument is that Lebron's choke job is the reason he "only" won 2 more MVPs? Without it he would have won them all?

Congrats on your 2nd place MVP Award Share.
If it's easier for you to digest, Harden has a better chance of being named MVP than Kawhi does.
Sorry I know a lil I'm late to the party, but wow it is shocking to see a fan base so determined to defend a player who clearly said "**** it, I need a vacation" during an elimination game. A dude like that would have wanted posters throughout the city in San Antonio lol just look at all the heat Aldridge has been getting this offseason

We play for higher stakes in the Alamo City. Rocketfan has not known diddly about that since the Clinton administration.

They're more of a 2nd fiddle type of basketball town.

I love how you spurs fans are still so overconfident and arrogant despite that y'all had a horrible, horrible offseason. Tried to get Chris Paul, but couldn't. Tried to trade Aldridge but couldn't. Overpaid for a washed up gasol and mediocre mills while letting dedmon and Simmons go in free agency. Move on.

So horrible we kept the majority of a team that had the 2nd best overall record in the league? Lulz

And y'all's coach never beats Pop in the postseason. Ever.

Never change, rocketfan. Never change.

I'm not going to get in a pissing match here lol but good lord man this is not even an argument. We beat you with 2 of our top 5 players banged up/sidelined last season. Is there really any discussion on who the better team is? Sure, y'all have had a hell of an offseason, but that proves little to nothing right now as there's still no telling how well harden and Paul will mesh on the floor. A lot easier said than done, just ask the 2012 lakers. Also, I might be a bit biased here but I just can't see harden ever getting a ring there. I think the end of last season solidified him being kept out of the 'elite' conversation until he proves otherwise. Just my two cents.

And just for the record, CP3 re-signed with LAC and was then traded to Htown. He did not take meetings with anyone as the free agency period had not began yet.

I respect your opinion, but that series was closer than you make it sound. Games 1 and 4 were blowout wins for us and game 5 went to OT. Also one bad game shouldn't define what was otherwise a pretty great regular season. Just my opinion.

Bruh, we spotted y'all a game, lost our starting PG (2nd leading playoff scorer) for the season in game 2, lost our leading scorer and MVP candidate at the worst possible time in the series (that OT game/game 6), and STILL ran y'all's sorry asses out of your own gym in an elimination game with our B team.

Damn right Spurfan is going to be cocky when talking to rocketfan these days. Just like y'all would have been had you taken advantage of the opportunity to beat daddy SA when we were down two starters.

Your place in this state is fighting for 2nd with Mavfan.

Oh yeah definitely agree there, y'all smoked us in gm 1 & 4. I just think losing Parker and Leonard and still walking away victorious left no doubt (at least in my mind) who the best team was in that series.

If you're not first you're last. Poor sperm fan doesn't understand that you're NEVER beating golden state with your washed up bums gasol, Aldridge, Parker, and ginobili. I'm in your head to the point that you reply to my before 6AM. LOL. Get a dog. Or a hooker.

Nah I have a newborn who wakes me up at odd hours. Sorry to disappoint ya.

Also, don't think I don't notice you tryna hide behind GS' skirts here. Those washed up bums took y'all's squad behind the woodshed with a hand tied behind their backs lol. And noted AARP member Manu Ginobili provided the hallmark moment of the series in shutting down your hirsute wunderkind:

If those "bums" are beating you, y'all are trash!

Even new fathers get bored and you entertain me with your chirping in the face if what happened last playoffs between our two teams.

19 seems a little old to be wearing out this type of vernacular, but to each their own, I suppose.

Also.....what's it like to have reached adulthood and never witnessed your team win the West or a championship with your own eyes?

i don't get you sperm fans that live in the past. Right now in the present you are in a hole as you can't afford to pay any good free agent since you have about 55 million committed to your bums. GS swept your sperms and if you get that far they'll do it again.

I hate to be so harsh, but youngblood has got to learn somehow.

If he's 19, he was born in the perfect window to witness all 5 Spurs titles (with an extra West crown thrown in there just for grins), while not witnessing either houston title. Or even seeing them win the West.

Dayum.

Hiding behind GS' skirts again. RIGHT NOW the scoreboard is that SA is your daddy. We hardly ever make off-season splashes and STILL kick y'all's asses from Kirby to Katy.

But bruh.....NEVER actually seeing your team win a title......what's it like?

Living in the past? How did literally the last game Houston played turn out?

Houston has been winning off-season championships for 15 years. Maybe someday they will win a real one.

It was pretty obvious which team was better in that series. Spurs overcame a lot and showed up when it mattered most. Hard to talk **** when our team failed to beat a team who lost their PG and star player in the same series.

Assuming you were born in 1998:

Bulls
Lakers (5x)
Spurs(5x)
Pistons
Heat(3x)
Celtics
Mavericks
Warriors(2x)
Cavs

That is the list of teams that have sat on the NBA throne. Guarantee you the number of fans that have watched their team win a title is far lower than 99%.

But I guess this is the kind of lazy smack to which one must resort when your own squad hasn't done jack this millennium. Gotta hide behind other teams' skirts to try to cut down the more accomplished franchise down the road since you can't do it yourself.

If you take into account the number of bandwagon fans (lakers to warriors), (heat to cavs), the percentage of fans that haven't experienced a championship increases significantly. But you're right, 99% was dumb on my part. More like ~72%

21/30 teams haven't won in my lifespan according to you, so 70%. I added two percent because of bandwagons that hopped from the lakers to warriors and heat to cavs. Understand?
