Murray was not net neutral. He was terrible. +- is laughable defense of his play. He is only playing because we have no other option.

Murray can play, he's just not ready to be the primary ball handler. He was fine when wasn't trying to setup the offense with Beverly hounding him. It's not like Patty, Green or Simmons can consistantly hold a dribble against that dude. He's an elite defender.

Murray has length and he's athletic. Hes a positive on defense and he's not afraid to drive the ball. 20-25 mins is good for him.

so now that we've seen murrays play, where does that put the chris paul trade rumors ?

I get what you are saying but the Spurs haven't invented anything. There are about 8 ways to cover the pick and roll and they using the one they thinK works best I this situation. Following the ball handler over the screen and having your big guy back off into the paint works well if your trailing defender is long and disciplined. It also helps that the Rockets don't really have a playmaker at the roll position. GSW uses Draymond and he kills this coverage because he can pop to the FT line and make plays.

I haven't seen it done this consistently and obviously. Hopefully I'm wrong and we're not in the midst of a sea change in how defense has to be played to prevent proximity fouls.

You know when guys like LMA are getting deflection in Harden's passing game that our defense is starting to adjust.

That's the reality. The offense flows thru Kawhi, especially in the fourth where he has been incredibly efficient.

In the absence of a better alternative, "finding a PG" really means finding someone to take enough of the offensive/ballhandling load off Kawhi's shoulders to keep him from wearing down. If we can buy some minutes and not have those minutes put us in a big hole, that's about what we can expect. If someone like Manu can actually provide some scoring punch for a game, it's gravy.

Rockets were 4-19 from 6ft or longer two point shots last night. That they took ~20 shots like that is a very good thing for us.
