CP3 was at the negotiating table with the union and helped push through the superstar provision. It basically makes it possible for him to make 200 million over the next 5 years if he stays with the Clips. The Clippers could do a sign and trade but they wouldn't be able trade him till December (assuming he signed in July). The Spurs could sign him outright but even the max is much leas than what he can make in LA.

So basically, Paul would have to willingly give up tens of millions to come here. That is assuming LA wants to sign him to all that... which I bet they do.

If Blake Griffin decides to walk to OKC to join up with Russ, the Clips may not want to pay 5y/210 for a team that features DJ, Paul and Austin Rivers. That's a recipe for 45 wins a year.

If Patty is worth starting PG money then we will know in the next 2-3 weeks. He won't get a better audition than this. To me it is a no brainer that you get CP3 while you develop Murray if the money works.

The alternative is a couple full rebuilding years during Kawhi's prime, which would hate to waste.

I always laughed every time you posted something like "Aldridge sucks, bring in Conley and Gasol". I think to myself, surely this idiot can't possibly think it's that easy....

Patty is one of my favorite Spurs since he got here, but he is barely 6 feet tall wearing basketball shoes and a sieve on defense, which is unfortunate in a league moving towards extra tall/long point guards who can score.

CP3 is the best defensive point guard in the NBA, and probably the best facilitator/scoring combo point guard since Magic. You think people just started using "Point God" for funsies?

But yeah, assuming we even have a shot at getting him, let's pass on that during Kawhi's age 26-30 seasons....

He's a head case in the sense that he expects too much from a couple of dipsheits like DeAndre and Griffin, neither of which are world beaters in the IQ department.

CP3 is Pop's wet dream of a PG. He's smart, he makes the right passes, he can score in the paint or from deep, and he plays defense better than anyone at his position.

There may be a lot of ego to go around, but if CP3 WANTS to win, he knows Kawhi and Pop can take him to the promised land. Pop knows he's only got so many years of Cyborg Kawhi. I bet they are both ready and willing to figure out how to work together.
