Congrats Spurs good luck against Houston.

Jealous of the Spurs success while Grizz continue to make playoff exits. I guess it's some consolation that we didn't get swept. Our all star Gasol pulled disappearing act in 4th Q tonight with not taking a single shot and allowed himself in Game 5 4th Q to be out worked and outmuscled by David Lee. At least Conley showed his mettle and some of the younger guys and role players had decent series. Oh well...

Good luck the rest of the way

We will trade you LMA straight up for Gasol.

Nah, we'll keep him but he's got to be more selfish in crunch time. Can't be passing up shots to pass the ball to James Ennis who in the last couple minutes didn't want to take a shot

Have to give Pop some major credit too. He is a legend. Not only did he know Parker wasn't as washed up as he appeared much of the year, but his Mills/Parker lineup in crunch time really kicked the Spurs offense into high gear.

Lee over Dedmond helped a ton as well.

Memphis needs to figure out a way to stay healthy during the season and get a better seed. Have they ever been higher than 4 or 5 in the Conley era?

As frustrating as LMA was at times and it was pretty bad at times, but he still finished with 17 and 12, played more minutes than any Spur and anchored the defense.

He is still solid, he just isn't the offensive player most thought we were getting so he can be frustrating. Especially after watching Duncan's greatness for 20 years.

I don't understand how Memphis always has the Spurs' number regardless of their playoff seed. They'll make it deep one of these years at this rate. Conley is something.

No. Never been higher than a 4 seed in our playoff history. Makes it tough to make deep runs. We either have significant guys out hurt, don't have the depth/bench, or don't have some element like outside shooting threat to make for a complete team.

Missed the game and the draft tonight. Looks like both worked out well.

I would love to never play Memphis again in the playoffs. After that 1-8 series a few yrs ago when they beat us in 5 games. I knew this group was nothing to **** with

I couldn't believe we'd reeled off 10 straight before the game 3 loss. Every playoff game with them feels like a war.

Always come away from a series with them with mad respect. Conley/Gasol/ZBo/et all are just good solid players who earn everything they get.

Was it 5? I thought it was 6, but then again I black out all bad playoff losses.

Moving onto the Rockets.. a Spurs fan living in Houston, I couldn't be more excited

Are you going to make any of the games in Houston?

I hope so. Friday and Sunday matchups are very favorable to my schedule.

What a great series. Memphis really played us tougher than I thought they would. I don't want to see them for a while.

I am eating my words on Tony Parker. He was phenomenal in 5 of the 6 games. No way another point guard on our team could have done what he did this series. He (and sometimes LA) really stepped up as our second fiddle on offense.

And my gosh Kawhi Leonard. We saw him develop even more this series. What he was really lacking compared to a Lebron was the playmaking/passing ability. But he made BIG plays down the stretch with some great passes to Lee and Tony. He's getting better and better right before our eyes. It's scary.

Lamarcus needs to be more consistent. No doubt about it. But he had a pretty fantastic second half last night.

And TP. Damn. What. A. Series. from the wee Frenchman.

Kawhi requires no words. He is a phenomenal basketball player. How lucky we are to see him develop like he has, and what a testament to him and his work ethic.

Conley is really really good. And the refs swallowed their whistles for most of the series after game 2, which plays into exactly how Memphis wants to play. I actually don't think we played too badly overall, but we'll learn a hell of a lot more next round as to how good we are. Oh, and that Patty + Tony combo to close games out was head scratching, but it was killer the last 2 games.

If TP and Patty are on, I think them + LA + Kawhibeast + Lee is a very dangerous offensive unit.

That was an all-time, as good as it has ever been performance from Parker. I don't think anyone was expecting that, but it was great to see. He has been really good pretty much the entire series. The extra rest and being healthy seem to be helping a ton. We will need him because PGs on the remaining playoff teams are exceptional.

Hopefully we can get a bit more efficiency and consistentcy from our bigs now that they aren't facing Gasol and ZBo, but we actually rebounded the ball pretty darn well.

I think Green is pretty critical against the rockets. He ended with a pretty poor series after having a nice first couple games. His defense wasn't that great either against the Griz most of the time.

Am I crazy to think we will actually match up better against Houston? Not saying it will be easy, or that we will even win, but man Memphis really grinds us. Our offense looked clogged for long stretches against the Grizz, really only surviving on some timely shot making and offensive boards.

The Spurs 3-point defense will have to be much better than what it was against Memphis. But I know a lot of that was probably due to their hands being tied in the paint with Randolph and Gasol.

Had a long day yesterday and turned the game off when we were down 10 in the 3rd fully expecting a game 7. Very happy to see the results after I went to bed. Bring on Houston!

I think folks are confusing the less physicality of Houston with a higher Spurs chance to win. In my opinion it will be different but just as tough if not tougher of a matchup to win.

The offense should be more efficient, but Harden and the 3pt barrage is going to pose some major problems. If we can dominate the boards and get consistent scoring from our posts then it might be easier than I am thinking, however OKC on paper had a similar advantage in the post and it didn't materialize.

I still predict this goes 7 games with Spurs winning the series by the tiniest of margins.

Spurs obviously liked the offensive lineup of Parker, Patty, Kawhi, Lee and LMA to finish the game. Obviously that isn't a stellar defensive lineup but they hustle and typically stay in front of their man.

Do y'all think this lineup is playable against Houston or would Houston's offense destroy it?
Enzo The Baker

I think it's too small a lineup to guard Houston's shooters. I'm concerned with Patty on defense this series. He doesn't guard the 3 point line well. We better hope Danny finds his stroke because we will need him to log major minutes at the 2.

God no on Anderson. He's too slow to keep up with anyone they'll trot out there. He only saw time in one of the four matchups with Houston in the regular season, so I don't think I'm alone in that thinking.

Be won't have any problem keeping up with Ryan Anderson

Not that he can't guard Anderson, but everyone else on Houston he'd have to when the Spurs switch the pick and roll.

Anderson is horribly slow and a major liability, especially against a team like Houston...and it's not like he provides some great offensive boost at times (like Patty can).
Enzo The Baker
How long do you want to ignore this user?

I think Simmons would get the nod against Houston because he has the speed to close out on the shooters. But I wouldn't call Anderson horribly slow. He has length that could bother Houston and has good, active hands. He would also be good on the boards, an area where we really need to dominate to limit Houston's possessions. But I agree he wouldn't add a damn thing offensively.

I think y'all underestimate SloMo. He's a very heady player who is more effective than you give him credit for.

The bench player that disappointed the most in the first round was Betrans. He will be better in future years but he did not play his role well at all in the important minutes he got in his first NBA playoff series. He will get coached up. When he catches the ball from KL who then reposts against a smaller defender, the ball has got to go back to KL. And Bertrans has got to knock down about half of his wide open treys, instead of the 20ish percent he shot vs Memphis. A hot Betrans could put us over the top v Houston, because the Spurs are going to need a lot of offense

I disagree. I thought Bertans played some great minutes. He shot 41.7% overall from three in the five games he played and was well into the black in the +/- for the series. I thought he was really solid on both ends in his limited minutes against Memphis.

Also I don't see how you can be disappointed in a rookie that didn't get consistent playing time in the regular season as it is.
