the problem with this thought, is that other teams have to want to actually think these players are worth anything. Just like he couldn't move Ariza and Brewer who make way less than other players because they're not very good. Even the knicks aren't stupid enough to trade for $20M ryan anderson in 2018, especially when the cap stops its meteoric rise after the 2017 CBA renegotiations

It'd be pretty cool if Morey can do another deal with OKC like Harden but this time for Westbrook. Then Kevin Durant sees he can be back with his OKC buds in Houston.

Why would he Ariza? We need a wing and he's cheap as hell. Cap room wasn't an issue.

Ariza is shouldn't be starting, IMO. He's better as a super sub and last year he was so bad in some very rough stretches. He is one of those contract player NBA guys,

Not every player that starts is an stud. He's a solid starter, not great. 13-6 spot up shooter type that plays strong D.

Article is old, but I still think this is fairly accurate for where Ariza stands.

It always felt like he was about to turn the corner and become this monster in the paint. He always had the size and intimidation factors down. Will be good to have a big body to go with Capela.

For anybody that is upset about getting guys like Anderson or Gordon consider this:

Trevor Ariza in the regular season shot 41.6% from the field which was the 4th lowest percentage on the team for guys who played 40 or more games. While his regular season 3-point % looked decent (37.1% - 2nd highest on the team) in the 5 game series against Golden State he shot 14.3% from behind the line.

Anderson and Gordon shot 36.6% and 38.4% respectively from the 3 in the regular season. Although they missed the playoffs this year if you rewind to last years playoffs in which they faced the Warriors (Swept in 4) both guys shot above 40% from the 3 in that series.

One added bonus stat: Both Anderson and Gordon shot above 87% from the free throw line last season which would have made them the 1st and 2nd best free throw shooters on our team (James finished the year hitting 86%).

I don't think anyone plays much defense in summer league. Most rosters have a couple of guys from the NBA team and a bunch of other guys that have never played together before. They get a couple practices and then start playing games. It is pretty close to pick-up ball.

I've been trying to figure out the purpose of summer league for years. It seems to be partly to see who looks out of place on a court full of NBA prospects and partly to acclimate prospects to NBA speed, but mostly to get fans hyped up over prospects they'll never hear from again.

I can't count how many times I've seen or heard comments like "Hey, did you see this kid that dropped 17 in Orlando! Borderline all-star and his floor is a solid starter." ...and then never heard the guy's name again.
