If the league wants to get rid of super teams it needs to take off the max for individual players

I guess he expects to prove he's good again and then get a big payday in 2017.
Similar to Rondo in Sac last year.

Are you sure we aren't tanking? We just committed the next 4 years to Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon (and their joints, muscles, bones and giant flaws as players) for a noticeable portion of our cap.
How could anyone watch the Pelicans last year and think....mmm...I gotta have that supporting cast.
In fact, if you watched any basketball at all last year you know the outcome of this season is basically set in stone:
Ryan Anderson's hip will go out, Eric Gordon's knee will explode and James Harden is just going to get fat and not play D. In fact, nobody will play D. We will score 135 points a game (give up 150) and finish dead last in the NBA.
Maybe this is what well engineered tanking looks like. So entertaining nobody will question it...

The Rockets pretty much entered full fledged tanking mode by hiring D'Antoni, but it should be pretty entertaining tanking.
Might as well be entertained though because it's a 2 team race to the Championship barring some injuries to GS and CLE.

Rockets for sure made the dumbest signing yet in FA with Anderson
Having Anderson and Gordon on the books for that long is the biggest albatross...4 years each for guys that aren't exactly models of durability. Anderson has missed double digit games per season every year but two...Gordon's injury history is well-known.
Harden is a UFA after the 2017-18 season, and if the Rockets are still non-competitive (for a title...I don't expect to see 20-62 or anything like that), I figure he'll walk.

Guys are getting overvalued right now because teams are spending all their new cap space on one or two players. The cap went up 34%, but for Anderson 12mm to 20mm is a 67% increase.
Anderson is worth 12/70 = 17% of the cap, but probably not 20/94=22% of the cap. It's tough to put together a 12 man roster when you spend more than a fifth of it on a non-star who doesn't defend.

Ulrich nailed it. 20% of the cap is on RA. 20% of the cap last year was $14mm. I don't think he was worth that, either.
He's a great shooter. But he is injury prone, doesn't play defense and doesn't add a ton of other things to your team. He's a good 3rd/4th option guy, just like Chandler Parsons would be. Only, he is now expected to be the 2nd option.

Last I saw they were saying 100, which is an increase but still leaves Anderson at 20% of the cap.
1) Les isn't going to tank, at least not intentionally. He went and hired Dantoni and so far I would say that Anderson and Gordon fit the profile of guys who could properly function in his system.

The 2017-18 cap is going to be above 100 M. I have seen as high as 110 M estimated. It shouldn't be hard to fit in another max player with a little movement not involving Gordon & Anderson (assuming they work out).
We need to overachieve this year and lure in a max player. Looking ahead I don't think we can lure Westbrook, CP3, or Curry. Griffin could maybe possibly be an option, but I think Hayward is more likely. Or if Capela doesn't develop enough then you have Adams or Noel, but neither of them are good enough to take you to a title.
