The Rockets have talent all over the court, there's not much they need in terms of skillset. Fewer gunners but more attention to detail, hard work, and team play on both ends of the court.

Not sure that happens building around Harden.

Jazz couldn't beat a Clippers team that didn't play any of their starters tonight. Those idiots are going to screw this up for us.

Sounds like a decent possibility that Morey gets canned.

Hope we give him one more year

It's not Moreys fault. He kept the team together and added a decent piece cheap. It just didn't work out on the court

I agree, BUT his inability to judge and manage personalities is extremely risky.

It will always be the GMs fault

I dont think it is the job of the GM to manage personalities. The coach is the person who is supposed to interact with the players and set the standards of teamwork.

Morey may be guilty of a poor judge of character, but lessons in basketball history show that a good coach can integrate troubled personalities. In fact, many championship winning teams had at least one "questionable character" on the team.

In my opinion, Morey's biggest issue is that he does not value the presence of a strong coaching influence. He believes in his system and he wants a person who will execute his vision. The only issue with that philosophy is that strong willed coaches (which is exactly what Harden/Howard need) will not run someone else's system.

McHale was a horrible choice for head coach. The guy was not really good at X/Os and didnt really have any defensive philosophy. The team performed well last year when they let JB take more control because he actually gave them a defensive strategy, but that was clearly not a stable setup.

We need a coach who has enough street cred and a big enough pair of balls to hold Harden responsible on both ends of the floor. Until we get that it doesn't matter what we do. I think Les needs to tell Morey, "you are hiring a strong coaching personality who emphasizes defense or you are gone."

Kobe coming in town today one last time. Game should have a lot of Laker fans.

The GM may not be responsible for managing personalities, but he brought in a ton of guys with issues between the ears. Harden and Howard have enough issues and surrounding them with guys like Josh Smith, Ty Lawson, Royce White, and Michael Beasley might be too much for any coach to handle. It's sure not setting the coaches up for success... and who hires the coaches? Every team needs a little crazy in the form of an enforcer who never thinks the game is out of reach, but not a lot flawed talents in the form of whiners and lack of professionalism or consistent effort. Championship contending superstars demand that their teammates play defense, they don't have to be cajoled or humiliated into defending.

I hate to bring it back to the spurs, but every time pop and RC buford are asked what they look for in players, they start with "players who have gotten over themselves" and go on to list things like professionalism, a sense of humor, hard workers, and other character traits. Those are minimum hurdles that must be passed before talent is evaluated, and it looks to me like Morey doesn't bother. Aside from that, the roster looks a lot more like an old school "just bring me talent" group than something that was built with analytics.

It's probably time for morey to move on, but I'm not sure the Rockets will get where you want to go without making Harden the second fiddle or even moving him.

You can have a team of egotistical jerks and still win championships.

You can have a couple egotistical jerks, but they better be pathological about winning. Are any of your top players like that? Harden isn't. Howard wants to win, but he doesn't want it enough for everyone like Jordan or Bryant did.

Yeah Howard reminds me of a 9 year old kid playing sports. He wants to win sososososo bad....as long as it isn't that hard and he doesn't have to change much.

Howard doesn't seem to be bothered by losses for too long...which in a life macro sense is a good thing, but in the micro sports world where he currently lives isn't really very desirable. Terry and Beverley are the only two guys I see on this team that have a "win or die trying" mentality, and Jet is just not very effective on the court any longer.

This team seems like the psych ward in "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest"...just a bunch of mismatched personalities with no direction at all. They've been a beating to watch for most of the season and there has to be a major roster overhaul coming. I pretty much see Jet, Howard, Brewer, Jones and J. Smith all somewhere else next season.

I was there since I knew it would be the last game I could make this season if we do not make the playoffs. Pretty sure Simplebay's goofy ass was right behind me.

Well we finally won! But so did Utah. Dallas lost, we still have a chance to catch both teams and make the 8th seed. Have to win out from here.

Houston goes 0-2 = Out of the playoffs
Houston goes 1-1 = Need Utah to lose both games; we would own conference record tiebreaker (8 seed)
Houston goes 2-0 = Need Utah to lose one game (8 seed); OR Mavs lose out (7 or 8 seed)*

*8 seed if Utah wins both games - 7 seed if Jazz beat Mavs and lose to Lakers (Kobes last game)

Standings:
Dallas 41-39
Utah 40-40
Houston 39-41

Houston
@ T-Wolves (Monday)
vs. Kings (Wednesday)

Dallas
@ Jazz (Monday)
vs. Spurs (Wednesday)

Utah
vs. Mavericks (Monday)
@ Lakers (Wednesday)

C'mon, its the 2015-2016 Rockets, we will beat Minnesota and Dallas will beat Utah on Monday to put us in the drivers seat for the 8th seed. Then with the playoffs on the line we will lose to the Kings and the Jazz will beat the Lakers to send us fishing.

I was just driving and delusionaly talking to myself convincing myself we have a shot against the Warriors so **** it lets make the playoffs. Bev on curry Ariza on klay or draymond. Playoff Dwight can get us a game by himself and I think he will as a "I can still do that" to his suitors.

Your plan is brilliant...until James has his first turnover or noncall on a drive and then he mentally collapse of like a folding chair for the rest of the series.

Obnoxious amount of Lakers/Kobe fans at Toyota Center today. Not sure if they were true Laker fans or just Kobe fans, but if it's the latter, it was very embarrassing in terms of appearance. Could never wear another team's jersey to a Rockets home game just to support an individual player.

But.

As an obsessive Kobe Bryant fan myself, I will say it was a great game. Rockets won, Steve Francis was wearing sunglasses indoors, and Kobe had a classic Kobe stat line: 35 points and 1 assist.
