I don't think the skillset of big back to the basket guys is dying, I just don't think enough players do it well and make their FTs. If a guy like Dwight came into the league, but could make FTs, he would dominate. There also aren't a lot of great defenders for guys like that.

From what I understand there will be a lot of teams with a lot of cap space this offseason. A big man is a lot like a QB in the NFL, there just aren't enough of them. Because there are so few, average players get max deals even if they don't deserve them.

That's how it's been for a while, but this year denotes the changing of the game. Andrew Bogut is the best center on the best team. All you need is a big oaf that can rebound and shoot free throws. JMO.

Big men are actually a lot more common now. It's the high end guards that are more valuable.

I've been watching the Rockets more the last few nights mostly because of fanduel and on some possessions for a 2-3 minute stretch, they play incredible defense. Then they go on about a 12 minute stretch where they couldn' care less.

I read this yesterday and thought it was really intriguing. They seem to think they have the formula, so far they seem to be right. We will see if it translates in to long term success.

And moving into San Fran from Oakland was probably the best decision they could have made.

It's always fun to see the latest franchise who thinks they have solved the riddle to eternal title contention (usually by copying something the Spurs already do). In five years they'll be watching the Spurs in the finals along with the Durant/westbrook Thunder, Lebron Cavs, LeBron Heat, Lebron cavs, big three celtics, kobe/shaq lakers, kobe/gasol lakers, kobe/Howard lakers, Nowitzki Mavs, [redacted due to thread title], [redacted due to thread title], and whatever other franchises have been ordained the future of the NBA over the last 20 years.
