Hollinger predicts that we will win over 60 games this season. It's hard to disagree. We are deep enough to do so. It's just a matter of us being able to compete against LA and OKC in the postseason.

If they stay healthy they might reach 60. I'm looking forward to Kawhi and Danny's development. If they step it up and the big 3 can stay on the floor then this should be a very strong team.

Manu is/was way more explosive than Nando. But I'm excited to see him play if he gets to see the court.

Nando looked great tonight for whoever watched the game. I will say he's a better passer at this point then Manu was. Nando can really move the ball around consistently like a PG. Really like his game.

Gosh we are so stacked.

On another note the Spurs need to keep Eddie Curry and Josh Powell IMO. Both players look great and Bonner and Blair are both just destined to fail once again. Looking to move those guys would be the smart move IMO.

Tony also had the clipboard and drew up the last play for Nando tonight.

Same thing Pop did with Manu when he let him draw up the last play a couple years back for those who remember.

The Southwest division has eroded from a division with 5 playoff/borderline playoff teams to a division with 2-3 playoff teams

Watched the second half today. Powell scored a few points but generally looked awful. De Colo still needs to learn the offense but had a couple nice passes. Joseph was invisible, which is a vast improvement for him. Duncan scored at will against Bosh. Green was filling it up. Manu looked a little off, I'm afraid he's hitting the age/health wall and he's either really good or a turnover machine, so that worries me. Lots of miscue-type turnovers, but they'll get that figured out.

Unfortunately I think De Colo is going to have a hard time seeing the floor. The guy just can't play defense.

Honestly, out of the players trying to make the team, I've been most impressed with Whitherspoon. I know we are stacked at that position already, but Curry and Powell just don't do anything for me.

He didn't play yesterday, but he's listed at SF. The only established players at SF are Leonard and Jackson, with Green, Manu, and Bonner capable of sliding over. Green and Manu are really guards, Bonner sucks, and Jackson probably isn't going to be a big minutes player for much longer, so I would make a case that the Spurs need to start grooming the next backup SF. Plus, Green is a player that the Spurs may not want to pay in a couple years and Manu is getting older, so who knows what kind of holes they are going to have within the next couple years.

You can never have too many long, athletic, versatile players on the bench, which is what Witherspoon appears to be from his draft writeup. Of course, his draft writeup also says his college career was disappointing due to a lack of mental toughness and basketball IQ, which doesn't really make him sound like Spurs material.

On another note, Tim Duncan looks absolutely amazing this pre-season. The guys work ethic is second to none.

As for De Colo, I agree he will find it hard to see the floor this season but not necessarily because of this defense. Gary Neal is just as bad on that end of the floor imho. It's more of the "corporate knowledge" argument that Pop likes to make.

True, but from what I've seen of him so far (international and preseason) he needs another shot creator to be on the floor with him to be effective. He looks to be kind of slow, especially relative to the NBA players, but we will see.

I think they are two different types of players. I've liked what I have seen from De Colo so far this season though. He probably isn't ready for a huge role this season but he's been impressive. He's a great passer and seems to run the offensive effectively.

In a surprising (or not very surprising) move, the Spurs release both Derrick Brown and Eddie Curry. The two guys Pop said earlier this week that they were actually "looking" at.

Hard to get that wound up for the Spurs anymore. They missed their window last year and it ain't coming back unless they're able to pull off the Andrew Bynum for Matt Bonner trade.

The Spurs will be fun to watch, and will once again be a regular season juggernaught. But I don't expect them to do much in the playoffs. They're kinda like Phoenix used to be. I guess enjoy the regular season while it lasts.

Easy for me to get wound up. Won't take for granted getting to watch Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili play basketball for the Spurs.

People have said their window closed 5 years ago and maybe they were right. Fact is they were very close last year and there's no reason they can't get back to that point. Sure a million things have to align if the Spurs are going to actually win a 'ship but the ride is still fun to watch. Especially with HOFs all over the team.
