Agreed and that's exactly what I said. However, things could turn much faster if we have a few big donors step up with some NIL funds. It doesn't take much to build a championship roster in women's soccer.

We are amazingly fortunate to have one big donor who's already stepping up in a big way to help soccer. We are incredibly lucky that this donor loves soccer and is doing this.

It's also amazing that people just throw around on here the notion that "someone with more money than me ought to give it to something I like."

Seems some of you have no idea what a difference age and experience can make in competitive sports.
It's soccer not rugby. Bobby understands teams that play soccer win championships. Vandi beat us playing a good brand of soccer. Physicality is obviously part of the game, but not the only caviat that makes a great soccer team. Nobody can win a game chasing. This team is simply not connecting and haven't found there rhythm. Vandi is in the top 5 of all of Collegiate Women's Soccer. Let that sink in! They're experienced and it still took them a while to break down a non-athletic team!
These team is beating itself by not controlling the ball and playing simple soccer. I don't think this team is suffering due to a lack of athleticism. Half of these players weren't here in the spring. You don't just show up and have chemistry. The ball moves faster than the player Bud! Rebuilding takes time.

The biggest problem for this team has been and will continue to be the coaching staff as they have very little experience. Is this team super talented? No. However, they have plenty of talent to compete for results every night and play better than they are currently. The player mismanagement and formation are a mess, we are throwing mud at the wall and hoping something sticks with the constant changes. The goalie situation has been constantly talked about so I won't go into that. In regards to the formation we run a very narrow 4-4-2 that continuously puts pressure on a very young defense. Tactically the young talent is struggling which may also be related to coaching style. At times (many) they are lost. It does not help that we have to watch one of his transfers trot around while Kat, who was one of our better players to start the year, sees very little playing time. Unfortunately, we are in worse shape than we were last year. If you would have put Churchill on the team from last year they would have been solid as it was really the big piece that they were missing.
Finally, I'm curious how the players like the coach constantly yelling which is very different from most high level coaching. Soccer is all about development in technical and tactical skills with game planning during training. It will be interesting to see who and what players will continue in this system.

G running this program into the ground the last 3 years and the resulting Talent are the issue…both age and depth. The real talent is extremely young and there isn't enough.

Many of these players don't appear to be power 4 players in skillset, speed, physicality, etc

G started running the program into the ground long before 3 years ago- -

Agree that Coach G just quit recruiting and coaching as he had his contract secured and was going to retire. He didn't care what shape he left our soccer program in. AD Bjork was dumb to do that contract extension.

Not true at all on recruiting. We had solid recruiting classes, the issue was the players kept leaving after year one or two and then went to programs like Florida State, USC, Vandervilbt, TCU, etc. He actually recruited well, just did a poor job of keeping them here.

They already have more goals than last years team scored all season 2 games into SEC play. We don't have finishers? Our midfield is part of the reason the forwards don't have a lot of opportunities. Half the time the forwards have to drop back into the midfield just to get on the ball or they're receiving balls with a wall of defenders between them and the goal. Soccer is a game of numbers. tex - based on reviewing your account, i'm assuming you are associated with someone on the team...probably the forwards. you've posted 5 times...in this thread alone. just fyi - i've watched ALL of the games. the reality is the midfield IS more creative this year. yes, we are compressed in the defensive half (imo mostly because the backline is just too weak and doesn't have enough experience to manage the game in the defensive third). there are too many times the CBs just launch the ball (a ball that can be controlled and sent into the midfield for a reset). you nailed it earlier, though. this team will not compete with other teams that have mostly seniors and grad students playing. 3-4 years of div 1 college level experience (many with international experience) is a huge step up in for the 1819-year-olds. my fear is that we are recruiting young talent and developing them to leave and eventually play for the vandys, notre dames, north carolinas, etc. hopefully bobby will be able to attract more than just a few older and experienced players over the next few years to complement the young talent.
