Definitely all subs here for the last 15 minutes - besides our goalie.

Can we admit that the defense is a total mess yet?

We are a better team offensively than last year as we are much more focused on the attack. Churchill and Lacher are upgrades, and Buchanan is doing a better of job of not dribbling too much this year, but I am not sure we have an elite goal scorer against P4 teams aside from Churchill. Our forwards and mids got bullied off the ball or forced into weak shots against a much more physical team last night. It does not surprise me that we have taken a step back defensively based on both our style of play and the replacement of a defensive focused assistant coach with an assistant with very little coaching experience at any level.
Some of the playing time decisions have been odd, but every coach sees players differently and we don't see what players do in practice. However, the coaching staff gets an F for managing the roster this spring and that has me a little concerned about our ability to evaluate players. While the spring portal doesn't have as many good players available as the winter portal, there were some very good players available and our transfers haven't been very good. On top of that, we cut some girls who seem to be doing pretty well at other P4 programs right now. I hope he has a better plan for the winter portal. I don't understand rescinding offers for all but one 2027 commit either (a couple of those girls have now committed to other P4 programs including TCU and Tech). And you can bet some of our better players on the current roster will bolt if this season continues like this.

As someone who sat in the visiting section of Ellis Field for the first time ever, I will say Bobby has them playing better soccer. You can see what they are trying to do but with the youth and lack of experience in the program at key positions it will take a while. He was hired too late in the process to get any transfers but I would expect him to be very active in the portal at the end of the year.

It was a strange feeling, but when you are a dad, the name on the back of the jersey is more important than the name on the front of the jersey. Not wearing maroon at Ellis Field felt awkward. I stood for Hullabaloo but didn't participate. It was a bit of a dampered experience. I have pictures of the girls at A&M camps/games since they were 8 or so up until around age 14. But, in the end, they both chose to go their own path and I will fully support them in their endeavors. No shade taken. Family is always first. I have three degrees from A&M with A&M roots back a couple generations, but none of that matters when the girls are playing.

gee if only there was. 6 foot defender faster than Hoang ....

She got beat by a national champion 400 meter runner so unless the 6 footer has world class speed, I'm not sure it would have mattered.

It was a transition play after a turnover and two quick passes. Easier said than done.

No, the poster is correct. We had a couple of players leave on their own in the winter portal, but the players who left in the spring were told to enter the portal after spring season ended. And all of the 2027s who have now committed elsewhere had their offers rescinded by our coaches.

Just for those who think the season is over.. we're ranked 24 in the RPI rankings. That's well in the NCAA tournament and would even have us hosting a game. I know it's early, but we're gonna be alright. We've lost to some top teams, and we've learned from our mistakes. Take the losses as growing moments and move on.
