A nervous ending to a game I felt we dominated.
It seemed like anytime Air Force got possession we didn't pick up defense until they were well into our end. That added to making it too close for comfort.

Not sure when I've seen so many quality chances created as in the last 2 games but just unable to finish. Defense scary shaky at times. I think we've taken a step forward from the latter G years but just don't have all the pieces yet. Oh, and worst center ref ever tonight?
nice win - AF had 3 or 4 high level players
Churchill gonna be our only real offensive threat as soon as the competition gets tougher

Another nice win for the Aggies last night!
The attack and passing through the midfield is improved. We need to get those shots on frame though.
The back line is still so shaky. It was tense to close out the match as I kept expecting the equalizer to slip through.
We've got some nice talent out there and if these freshmen progress, we could be good. But Trinity is on another level out there. She's so good on the ball and moves well off the ball. She makes things happen. Churchill dicing up the defense was fun to see last night as well.
And about the "fish camp game." It seems this coaching staff isn't as engaged off the field as the previous staff was. We know from Coach G's tenure he had to fight for what he wanted because the athletic department doesn't cater to the soccer program. His team advertised, they coordinated the fish camp games, he fought to get the Coach G soccer hour on the air.
It just seems like this staff isn't as concerned with that stuff. Obviously, the primary job is to win games. But in women's sports, you've got to engage with the community and advocate for yourself. Coach G and Gary Blair (both in attendance last night) did this as well as anyone.
There might be plans in the works, but based on what we're seeing so far - no soccer hour, no road game radio broadcasts, fish game flop - it seems like a departure for the past. Let's say it's more of a Roy Kent than a Ted Lasso approach.
I will say the updates to the Aggie Soccer Club are nice. But I think that's an overhaul at the department level.

While Trinity is amazing at creating scoring chances, she needs to not try to do too much on her own in the middle of the field. Save that for when you're near the box. Too many giveaways when there's simple passing options.

Completely agree. That said, she has looked so much better this year compared to last and in the spring. The combination of her, Lacher and Churchill has made us so much better offensively this year compared to last. Not sure Diaz is strong enough to be that other offensive piece for us, but she had a nice assist last night. Still hopeful Jernigan will be back soon and provide something offensively. We should of had a few more goals for sure, but the their gk made some really nice saves. Our midfield looked tired in the second half, especially in the last 20 minutes or so. Ruiz was a real spark off the bench in the first half and then didn't get many minutes for some reason in the second half. Bella has looked good in the holding mid spot, but we are trading some defense/ball winning for offense by using her instead of Campbell.

In the 12th minute Bobby took Landry out because he wanted to talk with her about something. She started the second half and played 25 more minutes. I thought August had her best game and made some difficult saves. It seemed like our defense frustrated Air Force some because they hit a lot of balls out of bounds on the sideline.

I like it Mook! Hoping you're wrong about the other offensive threats though. Still believe Diaz will get hers...so many close ones. If she's not half a body offside against TX State, that's a game changer. She will be pivotal as the competition ramps up. I don't know if there are other great options at the 9 right now when Diaz and Churchill sub out.

I think you're right about Bobby caring more about the on field results. I'm not even sure if he has social media.
But, I also think he's already done a lot to advocate for the team off the field. Look at the overhaul of the clubhouse. Not sure why it took a coaching change to finally do that or maybe it was just coincidence? And there have been other smaller things that have been done for the team that should've been done before.
Perhaps Dir of Ops should take more of a role now with community and promotion and let Bobby continue to focus most of his energy to on the field. G did do a lot off the field.
Speaking of the road game broadcasts, did David Ellis retire?
Couple of other thoughts on Diaz.
- I think Bobby is load managing Diaz at the moment. She didn't play against Rice (minor injury I think) and played 55 to 67mins the other 4 games. She's a work horse and can certainly play more minutes than that, but the injury bug has hit her a lot.
- Why don't we use her to take corner kicks instead of using a finisher and bigger body like Lacher? Diaz is too small to mix it up in the box and normally isn't even in the box. I didn't like when Churchill took the corners in the spring and early this fall. Seemed like a waste, and when they took her off corners, it paid off with a set piece goal

Pretty much everyone got upgraded locker rooms.

Diaz put in some work this off-season and hopefully it pays off- but last year she completed vanished against the bigger faster SEC Defenders

Yes, David Ellis is fully retired. He's kicking it in the Aggie Soccer club now. On Thursday night, several people let him know they missed his broadcasts.
