I don't disagree that it doesn't look good but, at the end of the day, any D1 school with a premium program like this is a business for them. The school has investors (donors), customers (students/alumni), suppliers (high school and select soccer programs), recruiting and fundraising. Changing a coach like that will impact every aspect of that "business"Gap said:
Unless he is ill, it is pretty unethical to resign at this time.
His players are stuck without the option granted to other athletes and incoming freshman when a coaching change occurs because school is starting immediately, other options have set rosters and accounted for scholarships.
It also saves the new coach the immense burden a guy like Elko had when he took over to keep his roster together. Instead this new coach gets the ability to just move straight into game plans for the season opener 4 days from now.
