Been thinking about this over the past couple days, and I think it's maybe just a variant of typical USSF nepotism. Ggg has favorites and basically lets them know they've got a semi-permanent starting spot. Players love that and want to support him rather than face an unknown who they'll have to work for in order to impress and keep their jobs.
Should never matter what the players think.

well then the players got what they wanted and still got grouped by Panama one year later, so it no longer matters what they want.


I agree. I'm just curious as I heard someone bring up this argument today when I said that GGG should go if we don't advance.

Regarding the 2 games suspension of Weah by CONMEBOL. Since USA got sent home, is the 2nd game suspension null and void?

Or does it carry over to the next Copa America if USA gets invited and Weah is on the roster?

Unless he partakes in another CONMEBOL event, it's moot.

And after the way things have gone these last two weeks, USSF should strongly consider never doing this tourney again. I get the impression that CONMEBOL is treating all the CONCACAF participants like second class citizens.

It's the speed and the soft first touch. That combination is what we still don't have. We are much faster and more athletic than we have ever been. But much of the USMNT lacks that level of touch. Both on the ground and in the air.
