We didn't suck for a change! Went to my first game of the season on Saturday night and that was by far our best performance of the year.

Hard to read too much into it as Dallas was really shorthanded, but we dominated possession and had a lot of good chances. Got unlucky once or twice but looked totally in control, they rarely threatened and got lucky on one of the few chances they had. Fingers crossed we keep it up!

Concerns on defense for sure. Driussi returning to form and fighting back to get a last-minute win.

Rigoni has (fairly) taken some heat for his performances, but that was just a clinical finish.

And nice to see Obrian get a goal, that tackle and pass from Ring was a thing of beauty.

He attended Friday's Mavericks game (Doncic is a huge Madrid fan and was part of the basketball program before the NBA). I guess he wanted to experience the beauty of I-35.

So big news...Rigoni is gone.




And it looks like we may be bringing in an international quality winger, one of the fastest players in Europe. Bukari is 25, has 10 goals and 10 assists across all competitions this season and 17 caps for Ghana:

I appreciated the effort that Rigoni always played with, but he his finishing quality was pretty dreadful...I feel like he put more balls into the stands behind the goal than he did in the goal itself.

Interested to see what this potential replacement does

Last night was about as unlucky as you can get in a match. We had all the chances but missed a penalty, couple crazy saves/blocks from them, they convert an unreal freekick, then get a pen to seal the win.

We were shorthanded so it is what it is, Driussi also went off with an injury so hoping that isn't too severe.

All that considered we're actually in a pretty good spot, currently 5th in the West which is far better than I expected given our early season form. If we can hang around in the 5th-10th spots till the transfer window we might be able to do some real damage through the end of the season into the playoffs.

Austin FC here at Real Salt Lake tonight (actually Sandy, Utah) . It is taco truck and margarita night and July 6 is Lucha Libre wrestling exhibitions. Air Force flyover just happened. Real Salt Lake appears to be the real deal.

Looked/sounded like a great environment. RSL the victim of one of our greatest home moments w the PK saves by STU a couple years back, so karmically earned. Enjoy the win. Look forward to actually competing next time lol.

Been a long dry spell of *meh* soccer at Q2 stadium (worse than that on the road), but the last two home games, against quality Liga MX opponents, no less, have been some of the most entertaining soccer by the home team in the last two years. Desler is absolutely rock solid and panic-free in the back. And early glimpses of the pace of Bukari are promising as well. Desler locking down the back end allows Gallagher to get forward meaning we have THREE really fast wing options (Obrian/Bhukari/Gallagher) which means teams have to respect a counter-attack, or concede goals.

It's only two games, but here's hoping it translates to MLS play and maybe a playoff run.

Weird that the team has basically parked the bus and countered in these two matches. Not "Wolffball."

So if you haven't been paying attention recently I wouldn't blame you as we were paired up with two of the best clubs in Liga MX for Leagues Cup and were expected to get bounced pretty quickly.

Instead we went 2-0 and will be advancing. The match vs Pumas in particular was absolutely wild and included an ejection for Austin, 5 goals, and a saved pen in stoppage:




Followed that with a 2-0 win over Monterrey:




We'll find out our next round opponent after Saturday's matches.

What's with Austin getting cited twice for violent conduct? Everything okay down there?

I was at the Dallas game a few weeks ago. One of yalls players was pretty steemed after the game and followed a Dallas player to the tunnel. Austin player was then heckled and taunted by fans. His response? Motion fans to come down to him. He jumped the wall between the field and the area just below the stands. Like dude, you're at work right now.
