Texas Aggie Soccer returns to action at Ellis Field on Friday night at 7PM. The Aggies will face Ole Miss in their 10th Annual Turn It Gold game, which raises funds in the fight against childhood cancer.
If you aren't attending in person, the game will stream live on SEC+ and the audio will be available on RadioAggieland or through the 12th Man App.
The Aggies lead this series 8-3 and took last year's game by a score of 2-1 in Oxford. Overall, last season Ole Miss went 9-7-4 (3-6-1 in conference).
This season, the Rebels sit at 5-3-2 with a 1-1-1 mark in conference play. They outscored LSU 1-0, lost at Vandy 0-2, then tied Auburn last Sunday in a scoreless match. Aside from their SEC foes, the only interesting opponent I spy on their non-conference schedule is Memphis. They lost at #12 Memphis early in the season by a score of 0-1 in what was statistically an evenly matched game.
In total, Mississippi has outscored opponents 14-8. Kelly Brady, a senior transfer from Central Connecticut, has scored a good chunk of those with her 6 goals on the season.
Goalkeeper, Shu Ohba is also in her first year with Ole Miss after transferring from East Tennessee State. Ohba has started all 10 games and 876 minutes in goal, allowing 7 goals while making 45 saves. She also played for her home country of Japan in the U-20 World Cup.
This is a must win game for A&M all-around. Ole Miss is a bottom tier SEC team that the Aggies need to stay above just to make the conference tournament. But with our eyes on even the possibility of an NCAA Tournament, this is one that cannot be dropped.
